This visit had me perusing furniture, electronics, decor & outdoor essentials. I picked up a cute dress to lounge around the house for $5...I'll be getting some more this weekend. One of the better specialty discount stores selling products for less than $5 with other merchandise ranging from $6 - $25. & kudos to the employees for keeping such a tight space offering anything & everything in a tidy fashion.

Parking in the large and free parking lot was easy to get, and I'm extremely sure parking is always available. This Five Below is located in Perimeter Pointe shopping mall. When I first saw "Five Below," I thought it was a store that sold cold weather gear, but my assumption was way off. Five Below sells most of it's stocked items for $5 or less, although I saw some items priced at $12 when I walked through the store today. Most of the items in the store, strategically placed in the front half of the store, are targeted to kids. I couldn't believe the variety of candy in the Sugar Rush area, and so much of it were brand name and popular candies. Another large area has clothing, accessories, and a lot of other things for girls, from elementary school through high school ages. In the back is the electronics department, where customers can find some practical to very cool products, including electronic cables, bluetooth speakers, gaming accessories, phone cases, and much more, all at cheap prices. I can't vouch for the quality of these products, because I didn't buy anything, but I suppose, at these prices, if they last at least 6 months, that's a great purchase. As I was leaving the store, one of the employees at the front of the store called out to me, "Have a great evening, sir!" This impressed me, because I don't hear employees say that to their customers often enough. If I had young kids, I would definitely consider shopping here to save money.

To the right hand side of the store there's a bakery section, I believe there's like a meat and produce section and you can literally just find anything that you would basically find in any Publix or Kroger. I thought this was really nice and convenient. I had really just went to grab a few things and noticed that I was able to purchase some to go meals, that I could easily prepare at home the next day. I was able to quickly find and locate everything that I was looking for, from a birthday gift to snacks and to coffee for my trip home. The only thing that kind of took me back with how clean, bright and vibrant this store was, was how unkept the bathroom was. I utilized the family bathroom and there were leftover items from a previous child that had been in there, there was no toilet paper on the roll and there was barely any paper towels available. But overall, I really thought this was a very well kept store. I was able to find everything I needed and able to get in and out in a timely manner.

There are definitely some good deals on snacks, candy and cereal. You have to pay close attention to the prices, because most items are priced the same as Kroger or Publix, but some items are slightly more expensive. The employees were friendly and helpful. When we entered the store, one of the team members asked if she could get us a cart. Later when I was walking around the store carrying a couple of items in my hands, another employee offered to get me a cart. When it came time to check out, there were three registers open. Therefore, we did not have to wait long in line. They have a rewards program where you can receive $5 back after three qualified visits. I'm not exactly sure how the program works, because we have made multiple purchases at Big Lots and given our phone number, but I don't remember us ever receiving the $5 reward.

I have been recovering from illness so this outing was meant to be a comforting return to a familiar place. I wanted to browse stretch my legs and enjoy myself. The store looked great and the cashier along with a very kind clerk helped me with my selections and explained a sale misunderstanding. They were professional and pleasant. The issue was the behavior of the floor staff. As I shopped I noticed employees repeatedly watching me. One young worker was extremely obvious. She peeked around corners followed my movements and stared at me in a way that felt more like surveillance than customer service. I have lived long enough to know the difference between normal store awareness and being singled out. When I reached the checkout she came and stood directly in front of me staring as if she was evaluating me. She interrupted the clerk helping me with a comment about her phone while never breaking eye contact. Then she and the others walked away. In that moment I felt violated. Not uncomfortable not mistaken but violated. Whoever trained these employees needs to take them back into training because this behavior was intrusive unprofessional and completely unnecessary. I completed my purchase but the experience ruined what should have been a peaceful outing. I will not be returning. Some places change and unfortunately this one has changed for the worse.

The clerk and the manager argued with me over a bag of pretzels that were in the " clearance " section for 50% off. Their contention was that someone put it there but there was more than 5 bags there with the red sticker. I held my ground and made a scene to the embarrassment of my wife. I walked away but why run a sore so lax as not to know where your inventory is and how much? The manager stood up for her employee so I left it at that. I will not be back to this hidden location again! Do yourself a favor save your gas and go elsewhere.
