Staff were pleasant and helpful. I flew in for a day trip that due to flight issue went to overnight. Dollar was able to help me when others couldn't. read more

if I could give a zero stars I definitely would!! first I arrive at the airport nobody at dollar so I have to go over to hertz rents car then they want $200 refundable fee I agreed that was fine then he proceeded to ask if I want a receipt for the charges I agree then he gives me a paper that says $310 then telling me my credit card isn't working because $200 and $310 is a $100 difference Then I booked where it was supposed to be discounted I was only supposed to pay $62 at arrival so $62!!! became $310 then I proceeded to ask to charge my credit card for the refundable fee and use my other card For the $110 he can't do that cause it has to be the same card then that doesn't work because my credit card doesn't go through and I get it back look at my phone and he tried to charge my card $511!! I already paid the fee for $276 so what was supposed to be $400 max turned into almost $800 Then he can't even tell me when I'm going to get Refund saying it could be right away or 2-4days read more

We had a prepaid reservation with Budget and apparently Budget closes at 5:00pm on Friday! What?! We walked up to the Dollar counter and the young man got us in a rental in less than 15 minutes! I would recommend Dollar! read more

I don't even want to rate this anything. I did report this to Hertz and of course no one contacts me back! Here's my experience in Atlanta. Dollar. You have a raving manic employee yelling at people accusing them of recording her yelling at everyone threatening to tear up their rental contract. There were at least 75 people in Line waiting to get to the counter not to mention the hundred people waiting for cars. Fire that woman. She should not be accusing people, recoding her yelling at the top of her lungs, raving at all of us, and kept saying she didn't care! She's your ambassador?!! What kind of business are you running.? She also said everyone should know that Dollars/Thrifty/Hertz over books and it's impossible to get cars on Friday's in Atlanta! Unacceptable. How should we know this? You have over booked over 100 cars that people were waiting to get their car from yesterday! A 3-4 hour wait they say today. This is unacceptable. Never will I ever book a car from you or your affiliates. You are a disgrace. We ended up cancelling as not to be held hostage with renting from you. I'm sure you could ask anyone renting that day and employees, and other rental car businesses bc she was extremely loud if you took the time to ask who the woman was. For the sake of your business you should. Mark my words. Never again and I will tell everyone I know about this. read more

This was the worst service I have ever experienced. We received a rental car and within a few minutes the low engine oil light came on. We then realized there was no oil in the car at all. We called to get a replacement and ended up being a SIX hour process and had to wait at the airport until our car was towed and keys were returned and had to wait at the airport until then. In the end, most of our weekend trip was spent at the rental car return. read more

This was the only place in the whole valley that actually had a car available! Service was great and vehicle exactly what we needed. This was the se Ins time I rent from this branch. Next time I will probably just directly from them. read more

I used to work for Dollar Rent A Car many years ago. Boy have things changed. No one at the counter, had to go to Hertz to get our reservation. Car had some transmission issues. A week later get a $47 charge for a $2 toll. No one said anything about tolls in the area or how they would charge 2,350% for fees That is where they make their money. Check it out. dollarrentalfine.com Their own profit center. read more

i walked up to the Dollar counter. it was empty with a card that said Hertz can help you. Hertz had my reservation and the customer service person said the car was not ready- that it was being cleaned up. Not a great start but ok. About 15 minutes I get a call that the car is ready. The customer service asked if I wanted to pre fuel and we talked about it and I said yes. Car was great-no complaints what so ever. I get back the next day. park where she tells me and walk to turn in the key. Same lady was working. She asked about mileage and fuel which I had gave her. She then tells me she didn't charge me to refuel. I said but we talked about it and I said yes. That evidently didn't matter because she didn't charge me with it which meant I had to go back to the car and find a gas station and fill it up. The sign at the counter showed $10.36 a gallon if you didn't fill it up so my bill would have been over $200.00 for a one day rental!! I felt she could have done something like redo my invoice since it was her mistake. I was at the airport a little early and had the time but normally it is a last Minute to catch the plane from my trip. read more

Avoid this company! Their cars are poorly maintained and their telephone customer service is atrocious. When I arrived at the onset of my long-planned two-week road-trip vacation, I learned that the car I reserved was not in stock. Instead I was given an inferior vehicle. After driving for some time, I noticed a wobble in one of the tires. Upon closer inspection I discovered that the tires on the car were bald and one had developed a bulge which was threatening to blow. Calling the company and arranging to have the tires replaced, driving to the seedy shop they sent me to, and waiting around cost me a good portion of a day out of my vacation. Later the car developed a suspension problem and the company had me drive two hours out of my way to have the car replaced. After all this, Dollar only offered to compensate me with a $30 discount for all my troubles. read more

Watch out for toll roads. They will charge $15 "admin" fee for each $0.60 toll. They actually have a special collection company setup to nail people for this. Check out www.DollarRentalFine.com I will never rent from Dollar again because quality companies value their customers instead of running gotcha scams like this. read more

Reservations mean nothing. We had a confirmed reservation, which they quickly pulled up in their system. However, they had not actually RESERVED anything for us. No cars were available in the category we *reserved* (full-size). They only had much smaller or much larger, all at a higher price--even the compact cars would cost a lot more. The staff acknowledged that a reservation does not mean that a car is reserved for you! read more

Horrible! Don't waste your time or money! I shopped around a month in advance of my vacation and Dollar Car Rental had the best deal. I reserved a Full Size car for one week. They gave me confirmation number but kept forgetting to send me the email. I called 3x over 3 weeks leading up to my vacation as I needed to make sure I had that size car to help transport an elderly family member. Each time I called they confirmed my reservation was listed with them. When I arrived at Harlingen Airport they didn't have my reservation listed. The lady at the counter finally told me they had a Full Size car for me in a location 8 hours away. As I had to rent a full size car that moment from another company I ended up spending $230 more than my initial reservation had been. I would have saved time and money by going with someone else to start with. read more

Horrible service. Don't rent here - got in a car with ZERO gas in it. Then they "advised" my husband not to get the toll tag service because it would be cheaper to just pay the "pass through" toll fee. Well they passed through the $2.28 toll fee as well as a $75 service fee. Total racket. read more

Poor customer service! We Changed our reservation from 10 to 11, but when we arrived the Rep grumpily told us it didn't matter because his computer didn't show the change even though we had a confirmation e-mail from Dollar. He said there were lots of people ahead of us (invisible people? No one was there) and that nhe didn't have any cars. He made us think we needed yo go elsewhere until we started to call the 800#, then he said they has cars but it would be about 15 Minutes. Why didn't he say that in the first place? Very rude and unhelpful. Someone else suggested he looked hungover. When we finally got a car they wanted to charge an extra $350 deposit if we used a Mastercard, but we could use a visa to avoid the fee...huh?! Haven't used Dollar in a long time, will go back to Budget read more

OMG. I can't select 0 stars. worst rental car experience ever. We have been coming to the Valley anually for years. Usually, I use Enterprise, but have used Dollar once or twice. We rented a car and I was asked all of the usual questions regarding purchasing extra stuff like insurance or gas. I declined all of those. When I got my bill, i saw that I was charged 18.95 per day for a one week rental for GPS. there was an annoying GPS in the car which we did not need to drive south and make one turn to SPI. I have been trying to get through to someone for 10 days now to correct this. the phone system is circular and there is no escaping the loop. Now, if i was wanting to buy something, there would be someone available. I agree with earlier reviews- customer service is atrocious--- an understatement. Still on the phone-- no help available. read more

I won't lie, I've run into some horrible Dollar locations (Hello, Charleston SC and Newark NJ!) BUT I have never had a delay, never had a bad attitude, never had any kind of a problem at this particular Dollar. I use it about 5 or 6 times a year and it is by far the most friendly Dollar place that I use. I'm sorry that others here had bad experiences, but I'm happy and actually look forward to dealing with these folks. And where is this toll road some are talking about? I can't think of one, unless they're driving into Mexico read more

Ridiculous. Guy at the counter was actually very nice, but we waited over an hour for our car because the exact size we reserved was not yet available. Unlike every other car rental place in the free world, there is only one car available for you and if you show up early it's your tough luck if you don't want to upgrade or downsize. Most companies would have offered an upgrade to have a better customer service experience but not this place. We kept hearing that we were just "waiting on the guy to bring the keys up". That's the whole business you are in people - bringing the keys up. Do it better. read more

I rent cars frequently and I always use Dollar. Dollar has great rates and I always get a clean, dependable vehicle. However, their hidden gem is Vicky. Vicky mans the front counter and she is AWESOME! She's been with the company a very long time. She knows how to take care of her customers. I am in and out in no time. I always ask for Vicky. read more

Bad cars, beat up. Management is always missing. They gave me a car that was trashed and I had to pay OUT OF MY OWN POCKET because I didn't pay double for the "insurance" to cover a pre-existing issue. read more

I travel to the Harlingen area frequently and usually have extended stays lasting at least a month. I normally rent with Avis, but in an effort to save a few dollars, I signed up and registered with this Dollar location at Harlingen Airport. All was ok until today. I turned in a month rental and was told I was being assessed an additional charge for "Frequent Flyer Surcharge". I fly Southwest and have a Southwest Rapids Reward credit card. I have NEVER been charged a "Frequent Flyer Surcharge" EVER!!! I called the credit card issuer and Southwest and was told that they do not EVER charge for frequent flyer. Dollar is a "partner" of Southwest for car rental using the Southwest Rapids Rewards program. This particular location managed by Gina Martinez and being part of Hertz overall has been assessing this unwarranted extra charge on rental fees. I am working with Southwest Customer to "de-partner" this Dollar location at Harlingen airport to protect Southwest Rapids Rewards customers from being subject to this scam of charging extra fees for "Frequent Flyer Surcharge". SCAM!!!! Boycott this Dollar location! What they are doing is a total scam on consumers!!!! Never give in!! read more
