My purpose for shopping today was to select quality Italian style meats and seafood for the holidays. I found everything I needed on my meat list such as tender prepared Braciole, meatball mix (beef, pork and veal), and Sindoni's Italian Sausage. Seafood -- However, I wanted Bacalao, a dried cod, but I was unfamiliar with the brand they had, so I passed. It was sold in a wooden box, but I like to see the pieces I am purchasing. After all, it is a pricey fish. I spoke with one of the butchers who was helpful. I did buy frozen large size smelt and Calamari for New Year's Eve. And super size frozen shrimp. Once again, I bought the terrific Cannoli Dip and Chips made of cannoli shells sold here. It is enjoyed as an appetizer or as part of the dessert table. I always find this delicious dip at Gabriel's. (See photo.) The produce section is not as good as those found in larger markets in terms of quality and price. I breezed through. The beer selection is impressive for a small market. They even had Perroni Beer glasses for sale.

Last night (11/4/25) I went there with the express purpose of getting 2 8x10 pictures printed. I utilized the instant kiosk and was informed (by the system) that it wasn't working so, I used the one hour service. I selected the images, uploaded them to the system, and placed the order. I waited around for over an hour and got no notice (text as was what I would have expected) that the order was completed. I returned to the register and was informed that the system wasn't working. Here's a bizarre idea, PUT UP A FREAKING SIGN!!!!. It would have cost Walmart a single sheet of paper, 1/4 inch of scotch tape and crayon to produce a sign that simply said the system was not operational. I left upset that I blew that much time for no reason. The following day I attempted to call to ask them if it would be possible to put a sign so that others were not subjected to the frustration that I had experienced. I tried three times to call and ask for a manager. The operator never picked up the phone. I guess the notion of "customer service" is a myth with this store. I drove back that morning (20 minutes) to lodge the complaint in person. No manager was available so i spoke with someone at the "customer service" counter. With no satisfaction. There is a small table set up under a canopy. The farm takes payment before or after picking. They accept cash, check, or Venmo. Today, a quart of blueberries cost $8/quart and $5.50/pint. The bushes are marked, and the paths are clear/not overgrown. Two varieties of blueberries were available for the picking.

The Eastern Parkway store in Schenectady was updated a few years ago, and it is easy to shop. It is clean, well organized, and well lit. The produce section is outstanding and superior to the nearby Hannaford. The selection is great. I found quality Chestnuts imported from Italy for only $7.99 lb., fresh vegetables, and premium Pomegranate. All of the produce was organized and labeled well. Shelves were neat. Aisles were easy to move around in. I found a turkey sculpted butter which I was unable to find elsewhere. The children like the figural butter for the rolls I make. Photo included. The bakery manager was great. She made up six Thanksgiving custom cupcakes for me while I shopped. Since I had to wait. She took $3.00 off the purchase price. She packed the decorations for the top of each in a baggie so that the top of the plastic cupcake container could be closed. She was eager to please and efficient. I wish I had gotten her name to thank her again! Photos included! The deli department is excellent. Also, the store made to go items are plentiful. The salads are delicious. I purchased two chicken parm dinners at $6.99 each to give to my husband on days when I am out in case there are no leftovers for him. They freeze and heat up nicely. Decent for the convenience and the price. Throughout my shopping experience, I was asked kindly if I needed assistance several times. I did. The staff person offered to take me to the item. Great attitudes! Parking was great. Staff were efficient and courteous. They always ask if I need help putting the bags in my car. This does not happen at Hannaford. Definitely a Five Star experience on Eastern Parkway in Schenectady today. I like to support this market because it is the only full scale market left in the city of Schenectady. It can be accessed from the inner city by bus or taxi. It is important to me that this store location remains available to all residents.

I love it. I really don't think there's a single thing here that isn't fantastic. I'm especially in love with their smoked ribs. The stuffed pork chops are awesome. They make all sorts of phenomenal sausages. They also sell a variety of other things: various cheeses, meats, spices, canned tomatoes, olive oil and more. The staff at Garofalo's are great as well. They're very friendly. This place is obviously in the best hands. If you're not familiar with the area, it might be a little tricky to find because it's on a weird little road. There really isn't any parking (I normally walk here from my Schenectady office anyway), so the best place is to just park in the lot around the bend behind Perreca's and Cornell's. Garofalo's is well within walking distance from there. Garofalo's accepts credit cards, but there's a minimum amount (which is $15 if I recall correctly). Be warned: If you're going there today for the smoked ribs, you're SOL. I'm pretty sure I bought them out for the day. That's how I roll.

They also make sausage patties in the summer. Their grated cheese is always in our refrigerator. Out of state relatives request the cheese and the Italian Sausage when we visit. Family owned since it was established almost 100 years ago.
