The value at Ollie's is great. We didn't have a ton of time to shop but we nabbed an A&M garden flag for $6.99 and a big bag of Brownie Brittle for $5.99. (Now I will note that we have been "burned" by food at Ollie's in the past -not this particular location- when we bought some mint patties which were infested with bugs. So yes we are "nervous" buying food here but I think that if they are well packaged, that shouldn't normally be a problem.) Now for the service. Wow. Aimee was our cashier and was FABULOUS. Like cell phone accessories brand LeYi. I never knew this brand until I bought a cell phone case from Amazon. They got unique design and functionality. Yesterday July 31 was their first day. I arrived around 3 pm. They were busy unloading and setting up the shop. There were few customers. Employees greeted everyone as we came in. Prices are still handwritten on the crates. I saw $1, $2, $3, $4, $5... But I saw nice stuff in the crates. Oh, they take cash and credit cards. I wasn't planning to stay long because I could overspend for trinkets. Some items can become customized gifts for businesses. I'll be back when we can safely meet in person. They have a large selection of toddler, teen, young adult, How To books, craft books and history books. Almost all of the books I bought were $2.99/$3.99. Regular price was $19.99 and $14.99! This location was more tidy than the College Station location and also had a better selection of toys/games. The cashier was very friendly and polite.

My son accidentally got the wrong size phone case and the staff let us come back in and look for another one to exchange. No questions. No problem. Cool little spot for quick deals!! If you can't be here on Friday, just get here before Tuesday to increase your chances of finding deals. Also, wear closed toe shoes for the "new table rampages" that happen every hour on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Plus they do raffles on all three days as well.

I've visited plenty of liquidation and Amazon return stores in San Antonio, so I'm familiar with how these businesses operate. Unfortunately, this particular location was one of the worst shopping experiences I've had. We visited on Saturday, when merchandise was advertised at $5. I selected several items, including two bras, reasonably expecting to pay $10 for the pair. Imagine my surprise when I reached the register and discovered the bras were actually $15 EACH! There was no signage on the bin indicating these items were exceptions to the advertised pricing. Let me be clear: I had the money to purchase both bras. Affordability wasn't the issue. Transparency and honesty in advertising were the issue. I ultimately purchased one bra because I objected to the unexpected pricing. Now, let's discuss the cleanliness of this establishment. Good grief. The store was absolutely filthy. I observed insects throughout the premises, and the restroom situation was particularly disturbing. Instead of clearly designated men's and women's restrooms, the facilities were shared. When I entered what I believed was the women's restroom, a man was walking out while zipping his pants. Only one toilet was functioning, and the overall condition of the restroom was no bueno. To top it all off, I found one of those backseat covers for my suv so that dog hair doesn't get in your car and this man came up to me and said, "can I have that"? And took it from me. I would have given it to him. He didn't even say, "sorry". Rude. I have visited liquidation stores in older buildings throughout San Antonio, and while they aren't always immaculate, they are generally maintained to a much more reasonable standard. Some even close for a day each week to restock and clean. Clean restroom facilities, and clearly communicated prices should be reasonable expectations. My advice to shoppers: Verify the price of every item before checkout, regardless of the advertised daily pricing, and consider the condition of the facilities before spending your money. I appreciate a bargain. I appreciate honest business practices even more. This store has substantial room for improvement, beginning with a broom, some disinfectant, and accurate price signs. On a positive note, if you can get over all of what I wrote above, I did find these cute ears! $5. I ended up giving them away to a little girl for Halloween :)

They have two employees at every register one to run the register and one to bag your groceries and put them in your shopping cart. They very seldom have any registers that are not open and on several occasions I have seen cashiers go get someone from a longer line and tell them that they can get them on a different register, so you never really have to wait very long to check out no matter how busy they are. I think it's a a great place to shop for groceries.
