There's been a lot of talk about Trosa Thrift store around town lately. I've seen it all over…read moresocial media so a friend and I decided to check it out on a Friday afternoon. Trosa is located on Peters Creek Hwy in the Food Lion strip center at the Clemmonsville exit. It's easy to get to and there's plenty of parking which I love. Right inside the door is their whole furniture section, they have tons of tables, chairs, dressers , etc. they even have a whole section of office specific furniture. The prices are very reasonable. This would be a furniture flippers paradise. Towards the back they have shelves of everything from pillows to whole sets of dishes, sports equipment and the most medical mobility equipment I've ever seen anywhere. I'd say, if you are in need of a walker, a bath seat or portable toilet for someone look here because they probably have it at a fraction of the cost it would be to purchase new or rent. The clothing is grouped all together but they aren't keeping it organized as well as it needs to be. All different sizes were mixed in together and I quickly got frustrated and gave up. Both of us had found an item in the kitchen area we wanted so we headed to check out. The workers were very friendly as well. I'll definitely be checking out Trosa regularly in the future. Trosa supports substance abuse treatment. If you want to donate to them, they offer pick up for larger items or you can bring your items to their donation drop off around the back of the store. Just follow the signs.

Growing up in High Point, Food Lion was one of the primary grocery stores our family shopped at. In…read morethe 1980s and 1990s, Food Lion may possibly have been the preeminent supermarket in North Carolina. I have vague recollections of visiting the old Westchester location down the road, closer to K&W Cafeteria and the old Westchester Mall, before the grocery store moved to its current location at 2200 Westchester Drive sometime in the 90s (I believe). While I've never had a problem with Food Lion, this particular location seems to be stuck in the past. As bigger, more modern supermarkets like Ingles have entered the fray, it seems like Food Lion has done hardly anything to keep up. For example, Food Lion doesn't have a pharmacy. It's a pretty basic grocery store. It's almost becoming a discount grocery store like ALDI or Food Depot, but not quite there yet (or maybe it is). Surely, the once proud Food Lion brand has more pride than that. I don't know if there are "modern" Food Lions out there. Perhaps the High Point stores are simply in line for renovations, but other mainstream supermarket chains such as Harris Teeter, Kroger, and Publix all seem to outshine Food Lion without question. They have more departments, better selection, and generally look nicer. Even Target and Walmart stores have grocery sections that look better than Food Lion. The increasing popularity of stores such as Whole Foods and Trader Joe's hasn't helped either. That said, if you're not looking for anything too specific or fancy, this Food Lion still gets the job done. The store is clean and the staff is competent. There is rarely a wait at checkout and the items we've purchased here, meat and produce included, are affordably priced and decent quality. The prices are competitive and that's where Food Lion still wins. Sign up for an MVP card for extra savings. Without a makeover, it'll be interesting to see how long this Food Lion sticks around. Maybe the surrounding community is enough to support it. I'm rooting for them.

The Family Fare convenience store is a lot nicer and a lot bigger than the old Petro Express, which was a tiny little store. Unlike Petro Express, which was more of a "shack" corner store, this Family Fare is more on the scale of a Sheetz or QuikTrip. It opened sometime between July 2018 and June 2019. The BP gas station has eight pumps which is actually less than before - Marathon had 10. However, the overall site is more spacious, open, and clean. The pumps are naturally nicer because they're BP brand, which is a more expensive brand, and they're newer. Ads play on the display while you pump. There are at least three ways you can save money on gas here: (1) BPme Rewards, (2) Harris Teeter Fuel Points, and (3) GetUpside. I used GetUpside to get $0.20 off per gallon for premium gas during my visit. The discount amounts vary when using GetUpside. If you've never used it before, get the app and use my invite code DANIEL66482 to save even more money. I sound like an ad, but there's no catch. It's free savings on gas. You just have to jump through the hoops of finding the app in your app store, downloading/installing it, signing up, and "checking in" before you pay to get the savings. Family Fare is a regional chain with currently 25 locations (franchises), mostly in North Carolina. The company also has a presence in Virginia. There used to be a Burger King in the lot next door. These days, you'll see sellers with pop-up shops / canopies there.

This person could park next to that spot and still be just as easy to walk in. It's when it's busy and all those other spots are taken where that will cause an issue for a truly handicapped person. There is no excuse for an employee to take over this spot for a whole shift whether they are handicapped or not which I don't believe this person is bc they appear to move around just fine. But that's beside the point. They have other spot to choose from when they first open the store. No reason to take up the only handicapped spot provided by the store.
