I tried several different flavors and my favorites were the pineapple and jalapeno. They are now making their sausages available here and I picked up some right away. Lil Butcher Shoppe is located at 1910 Broadway Dr in Hattiesburg, MS, and has been proudly serving the Pine Belt region since 1991. This family-owned and operated "olde-fashioned" butcher shop offers a wide variety of fresh, high-quality meats, local products, and excellent customer service. From its humble beginnings at Tip's gas station to its current thriving location, Lil Butcher Shoppe has become a beloved fixture in the community and now making their sausages products available in stores. Their history, brothers David Lawson and Steven Dyar founded Lil Butcher Shoppe over three decades ago, drawing inspiration from their family's history in the service industry. Prior to opening the butcher shop, David worked at Tip's, a gas station named after their mother, Christal "Tip" Lawson. The family managed the various locations from the years 1974-1990. David had worked in the family's gas station business his entire life, where he learned business management and customer service skills. After serving in the Navy, Steven Dyar began working at Carroll's Meat Shoppe, Patricia (Trish) Dyar's family butcher shop in Jacksonville, FL. This is where Steve learned the butcher trade and fell in love with Trish, whom he married. In 1990, the couple decided to move back to Mississippi. Lil Butcher Shoppe boasts a vast selection of fresh, hand-cut beef, pork, chicken, and seafood. Customers can also request custom cuts to suit their preferences. In addition to high-quality meats, the shop offers a range of homemade items, such as: * Stuffed Potatoes (6 flavors) * Bratwursts * Boudin * Meatloaf * Smoked Chicken * Stuffed Porkchops * Stuffed Chicken * Gumbo * Mardi Gras Pasta Sauce * Casseroles * Stuffed Mushrooms & Peppers * Crawfish Pies The shop also stocks an assortment of cheeses, homemade jams, and various ready-to-bake dishes. With such a diverse array of offerings, Lil Butcher Shoppe truly caters to a wide range of tastes and culinary needs. I have already prepared a number of dishes for breakfast and dinner using several of these sausages and I'm a fan. The pineapple flavor is very good just grilled on a bun with a pineapple slaw and the jalapeno one is great with beans. I have more ideas and there's lots of ideas. Bottom line: Lil Butcher Shoppe has stood the test of time as a family-owned, community-oriented establishment in Hattiesburg, MS. Offering an extensive array of high-quality meats, homemade dishes, and local products, it remains a go-to destination for residents and visitors alike who appreciate quality and exceptional customer service. wow.. notice how there are two "filtered" reviews? Like one…read morereviewer said, this place had alot of potential. Before New Yokel, Hattiesburg didn't have an organic health foods store. As a hardcore vegan, I'm all too familiar with the phrase "My organic food isn't expensive, your conventional food is just cheap!" But New Yokel REALLY takes advantage of this on a whole new level. I special ordered a box of some coconut water here, when i could have easily ordered it online myself. But i wanted to help my local store. It was about $50 more at New Yokel than what it would have cost me if i purchased the same thing from the retailer (retail price... duh). The next day I phoned the manager, and he was incredibly rude and condescending, but agreed to refund my purchase. But i felt so disrespected, I decided to keep my golden coconut water, and never give this place business again. The next day I received an email from this guy about the "unsustainability of the brand of coconut water in which i prefer".. (BTW, I'm a vegan for environmental reasons, and I'm very self-aware and conscious of the carbon impact i put into the atmosphere).. I discussed this with my boyfriend, and he mentioned that his finance professor was complaining about the owner of this place, calling him "a crack-pot" in class because the grocery owner was lecturing the finance professor about the inhumane practices of the bank in which he was using to purchase his groceries!! ...face-palm... The organic fruit i've seen here looks rotted, at least whenever I've paid my few visits. Coconut water isn't the only thing that is overpriced at this store. PLUS!!! The corner market in Belevue on 98 (past anatomies), has everything this store carries, in a much more organized way and MUCH more reasonably priced. (just to add to my own credibility, browse my former reviews.. i usually get on yelp to say nice things!)
