We first stopped at the smaller Salvage store. It had an assortment of clothing for men, women, and children, and you really need to comb through the racks to find something in your size. I wish they would organize the clothes by size, rather than by brand/style, but my time was well-spent, as I found two nice tops from brands I love (Tangerine and Loft) for $8 and $3, respectively. They also have aisles with various grocery and household items. We found an embroidered yard flag, an auto sun shade, a pair of earrings, and some Pellegrino sparkling water (3 for $1). My sister-in-law also found a cute pair of sandals for under $15. We next went to the Overstock store, located in an old Kmart just down the road. It had a larger selection of clothing, shoes, watches, jewelry, and grocery and household items, and also had sporting goods, furniture, and appliances. My brother and his wife got great deals on golf shoes, but interestingly, I only found one clothing item (a skirt) for myself. Note that the fitting rooms are closed at both stores...bummer. If you like shopping for discount deals, you should check out these stores!

Mike…read moreJones and his Father, Ray started Mike's Merchandise as an offshoot of their family machine shop business with most of the items they sell coming from inventory reduction auctions. The machine shop and retail store shared a Guntersville space until it became a little awkward when Sak's lingerie, women's dresses, and footwear (2$-3$ each) shared the same space with greasy tools and machines. Eventually, they opened the first retail store in Guntersville and now (and have for a good while) have stores in Huntsville, Decatur, Montgomery, Muscle Shoals, and Auburn. Yeah, there is a lot of stuff in a MM!! Books, yearbooks and bestsellers, sports fan related items (think Blue Jays themed socks), nuts, bolts, uniforms, stationery, school supplies, sports equipment, picture frames, Bubba Gump glasses, barrettes, office desks, grills, nuts, bolts, tools, flashlights, live orchids - you get it. It's a bargain hunter's paradise if you don't have ADHD and can focus on getting only what you are looking for. Interestingly enough, they don't always know what is in some of the boxes they bid on at auction and once ended up with F-16 fighter jet parts that required Pentagon permission to sell. (They sold nearly all the parts, too!) Like their website says, after visiting the Guntersville and Huntsville stores, I did find myself saying, as many MM shoppers do, "I'll bet that would come in handy, if I just knew what it was for." :)

As you walk up to the front door/entrance you will find a couple racks of discounted items (note these purchases are final - size swapping is allowed though). As you walk in you come into the living room..er the first displays of clothes and jewelry and shoes. Well organized and displayed in an easy to access fashion (get it fashion .... ). We were greeted quickly and asked if we needed any help, to which my GF let them know she had placed an order online (really convenient). While they assembled her order, we wandered through the various rooms to look at the other things they had to offer. Great use of space, including hanging items in closets. Seasonal items including things for the upcoming holiday (Easter). Great prices can be found throughout the store and even better prices on the clearance items. Easy to work with and great prices and selection make this boutique a must stop if you're in the area. Make sure to check them out on line also.

It started with the Facebook page, which somehow I joined last year and then started seeing these absolutely must-have items ... Finally I caved and bought a shirt with the comment-sold app and it arrived at my house in just a few days. (My previous experience with FB shopping online was those items that are really cheap but take weeks or months to arrive, so I was very pleasantly surprised!) However I opted for pick up at the store for the next item and learned that they will let you try it on and exchange it right then if it doesn't fit. That was a huge bonus - and trust me, you WILL find some things (like, 5 or 10 or so) you like in that store! If you are on Facebook I highly recommend liking their page because things they post online often sell out quickly. The physical store is a converted house and I think they have done a great job turning into their store and showroom. It's not awkward like some house-stores can be, and they use the closets (all the doors are removed) to highlight outfits or even hang more clothes for sale in. Love that idea! Prices are usually reasonable for boutique, and they do have sales. My last trip I got 25% off a dress for the pre-Easter sale. and they also had a $10 rack. If you are on Facebook I highly recommend liking their page because things they post online often sell out fast. I posted some pics of things I got recently with the prices, as well as some Facebook page screenshots. I always forget to take pics IN the store because I just get so excited about the clothes! So you will just have to see for yourself! Also, they recently announced they are part of the new Boaz Boutique Trail .. as if I needed another reason to shop! Will be checking that out soon! (Hint: once your passport is fully stamped you get a free gift!)

We kind of came across this place by accident looking for a boutique that we were going to go check out. As it happened, the boutique, was actually located in one of the booths at the antique mall. This place was massive, with three floors to explore. Booths on the lower floor are very clearly marked, and kind of cool, they have some locked glass cabinets that have items that would be considered a little more rare. Really, a ton of stuff that we both liked looking at while we were here. As we expanded the search upstairs, it didn't feel quite as structured as the lower floor, but all items have a sticker with a booth number, so if you are questioning what booth it came from you can figure it out pretty easily (this may be of importance if you think an item came from a booth that is running a sale). The staff were friendly and helpful and let us store some stuff on the front counters while we continued exploring. Only reason for a deduct on the review rating, the AC was virtually non-functional on the top two floors - It was was too warm up there. Otherwise, this place is really pretty awesome!
