I dislike them making a big deal if I want to package up my own groceries. When raw meat is placed with my fruit, yeah no, you need more training. I do like the self service area when I can do it myself, but most of the time I use cash and have to be forced to repacking my groceries when I get to the car. The best reason to go there is the Caribou Coffee shop. They are the best. Far better in taste compared to the Starbucks one, oh and the service is down to earth and friendly. I'll stop there regardless if I need any groceries or not whenever I'm in Rice Lake.

So we stocked up mainly on drinks and produce. I forgot how big Walmart's are inside. We also wandered over to their Sporting Goods department to see what they had for fishing gear, asking for directions along the way from helpful staff. Our group of six was soon scattered around the store and started texting so we could all meet up by checkout.

Perhaps they are going out of business and selling off their stocked items although I didn't see any signs indicating they are closing. The staff were pleasant and helpful when trying to navigate the isles. We opted for the frozen food over fresh. We were lucky to grab the last paper towels on the shelf. Many of the supplies were picked over. The fruit and vegetable section looked the healthiest. We were unable to find several items we needed so had to travel to Clear Lake to another store. This appears to be the only grocery store in town and there was only 1 other patron in the store so perhaps not enough business. .

Closer to the checkout area there is a smaller section of veggies and what I call the naughty aisle which is all the fresh ground coffee, chocolates and caramels. "Food Club" is the generic brand here, the store is owned by Coborn's if you're familiar with them. The liquor selection is large, but separate from the food and requires a separate check out. Maybe 12 years ago or so, a bear cub climbed into the beer cooler. (I've been coming here awhile) This store used to compete with the Co-op food store but now just Walmart. There are a couple self checkouts. You can sign up for their More Rewards to catch sale prices and saver coupons, money off on gas purchases at Holiday, etc. There's a coffee shop inside to the right as you enter and I think a pharmacy is still there.
