We stumbled on this lovely Italian restaurant in a town where it seems half the eating…read moreestablishments are Italian. We have lived in Bologna for several years and can admittedly be Italian food snobs. And yet, we left La Grappa molti content.
During our visit, they had several specials featuring Summer Truffles. My wife had a cream soup seasoned with shaved truffles that was not too heavy and that featured the truffles well. My risotto, though slightly more al dente than one finds in the best Italian restaurants, was still very flavorful and had just the right blend of truffles and beef mixed in. The waiters at La Grappa were also kind enough to alter a couple of dishes to meet the persnickety standards of our kids. Both kids were very happy with their meals.
One other bonus was the fact that La Grappa features Pilsner Urquell on tap ("zum Fass").
Our only real regret was not having ordered the tagliatelle dish that the waiters kept finishing in a giant mozzerella cheese mold. It appeared to be a masterwork method of preparing a cheesy pasta dish.
La Grappa faces a lovely, rebuilt square in the old part of Eisenach, and appeared to have an outdoor beer garden/dining area, as well.
A lovely experience.
