Recently I have been getting quite tired of messing around with fake eyelashes and curling my lashes with a device that seems to do more harm then good. I saw that Bliss added eyelash perming to their menu and decided to try it out about a month ago. Bliss were very helpful in: a) fitting me in last minute b) filling me in on everything I needed to know about eyelash perming c) taking the time to make sure I wasn't allergic to any of the chemicals. The whole process takes around 45mins (add 15mins if you wanted to do a tint as well) and lasts around 6-8 weeks. The time seems to fly by for me thanks to the friendly conversations had by the lovely beautician Chanel and I. I have always felt very comfortable and welcomed and have no doubt that you will feel the same. After I moved to Sydney 2 years ago I tried a few hairdressers from cheap to expensive and I was never really satisfied. I'm glad to have found this place in the end. After your complimentary drink they start off with a head-shoulder massage, followed by a relaxing hair wash while sitting on one of their fancy massage chairs. What I also find important is that they wash your hair again after they're done with the cut. I noticed that not many hairdressers actually do that here in Sydney and then you're left for the day with little hairs all over you. The entire Cabelo crew is very friendly, competent and certainly worth the money. A normal mens hair cut including 2x wash (before & after), cut and styling costs $60. I come here every 3 weeks. Can't wait for the next time!

I have visited this salon maybe 4 or 5 times to get my colour done and these guys are amazing. The last time I went there just before I went to New York and a friend of mine who manages Super Models (no I won't name names) told me he LOVED my hair colour. Now if that's not a compliment I don't know what is. The thing about Toni and Guy is it is expensive but when it comes to colour I think its worthwhile making the investment. I've had a few different colourists look after me and they've all been excellent. Enjoy the pamper time - you deserve it.

My colour + toner/treatment and blow dry came to $60. So good for this city, especially as the state of my hair was so bad when i walked in that some would have called it a colour correction. So essentially you sit down with your student, they ask you plenty of questions (as they really do not want to do the wrong thing, probably more so than regular hairdressers which I am stoked about as I am a total fusspot) and then they write a few things down and report to their supervisor. They tell you exactly what they are doing so you get no surprises and then go about their business. I would say the application was similar in time to most other salons. The woman doing my hair was a gem and I found the other students working around her to be an absolute riot. The only reason this didn't get a 5 (being that I am super happy with the result!) was that there was a lesson booked an hour into my consult so my student stopped doing my hair for a while and the supervisor washed it and put the toner in. It wasn't explained to me that the two were combined so I thought I had lost the treatment which was essential given the quality of my straw hair. Anyway, it all came good and the colour has settled really nicely after a few washes and hasn't all run out (this has happened to me before at a different salon). Big thumbs up! I have tried many hairdressers all over Sydney but have never been able to commit to just one. I find most hairdressers pretend to listen to what you have to say and then cut whatever style they are used to. I said no layers, miss. Oh you said no layers? I thought you said four layers. Too late, my bad. You can see my conundrum. Well that was until I was referred to Partners Hair. I made a booking with Joe (sometimes hard to come by) and prepared for the worst. But the moment I arrived ("Would you like some tea, coffee, water infused with strawberries ma'am?") I felt a connection to the place. Joe was wonderful. He was delightfully entertaining and all around chatty. It was like getting a haircut by your best friend. We talked about dancing, partying and our weekend hangovers that we'd been trying to put at bay, babies and boyfriends. I left feeling satisfied and confident in Joe's handiwork. Now I don't go anywhere else. I generally make appointments with Joe but have also tried Wissom, who is equally friendly and just as good with the scissors. They have a loyalty card where every three visits you receive something extra (free treatment, free product or free hair cut) and they send you birthday specials via text message. Once I even received a message for a discount haircut because they noticed I hadn't been in awhile (I'm lazy like that). If that is not true customer service, I don't know what is.

So first of all, they were doing a spectacular 30% off for first time customers, free deep conditioning special. What's more, I was offered a glass of white while I sat down for my consultation (which turned into 2, I mean, right?). My hairdresser Max listened closely to what I was after, gave some good input and got to work chopping. He worked quickly and amused me all the while with his stories of big nights out on Oxford St. As I slurped the last of my wine, he went to town with the blow dryer and about 5 round brushes to achieve the "bouncy" look. At the end of my appointment I ended up with a kickass haircut and a new possible best friend. It just took one wash to bring my 80s prom queen-esque styling into the current decade but I must admit, the cut was a great one- well shaped, good layering and the perfect amount of fringe. Go see Max, he's definitely a kick and the boy knows his scissors.

They also use Kevin Murphy products (which are fantastic and sulfate free) and have reasonable prices. I got a keratin treatment for the first time, performed by Veronica (I think?? the blonde one..) and it was great. I felt like I was the most important customer in the world and was treated very well. Great professionalism, cleanliness, and hair skills.
