My dog Argyle LOVES Dogs at Camp. On mornings when we drive to the farm he is deliriously happy in the car as we turn off the highway and on to the country road that leads to his country retreat. When Argyle is a Day Camper he is just as happy when I stop by to pick him up. When we get there he never looks back at me - he's just thrilled to be there again. When I go to fetch him he sometimes looks like he wants to stay. On longer stays he comes home just as happy, healthy and rested - contented and fit - as when I dropped him off.
As a busy professional with a demanding travel and work schedule I rely on Dogs at Camp as the best place for my dog. Argyle has boarded there, and always comes back delighted and invigorated. I can tell Argyle gets a fantastic workout with all the other dogs with whom he cavorts the whole days long. We've been going there for just over a year now, since he was but a young pup. The Meet 'n' Greet ensured he was welcomed and accepted by all the other dogs.
I researched many dog boarding facilities in the 100 kilometer radius of Toronto, and also up north toward Orillia. Dogs at Camp stood out from the facilities closer to the city, and those in the more rural areas in many ways. In the first instance the owner has clearly given a tremendous deal of thought to the welfare and happiness of his canine guests. He is clearly and absolutely a passionate dog lover, and he knows a great deal about dog psychology, and dog health. And about best practices for a superb facility. The farm has been thought out in every detail with the dogs' welfare in mind, from the building that houses the dogs and keeps them sociable and content to the daily routines and activities that are one of the main reasons all the dogs I have ever met there when coming or going with Argyle seem so very happy to be there.
But it's not just the care and thought that has gone into the facility, or the fabulous recreation and stimulation the dogs benefit from. The entire team of "Camp Counselors" are fantastic. They clearly all love dogs, many are dog owners themselves, and you can see they have a direct and loving relationship with all the animals who are in their care. If you research enough dog kennels, dog walking and dog boarding businesses -- as I did before I chose Dogs at Camp -- you can see that some places tolerate dogs more than they love them.
Dogs at Camp is so better than all that, and that's what makes it so great. And the dogs know it! And that's why they are all so happy to be there. The staff are all superb in handling and loving dogs. It is evident every time I go there and chat briefly with any one of the employees. If you travel a great deal for business, as I do, eventually you know the hotels where every member of the staff is professional, courteous, knowledgeable, considerate, sympathetic, diplomatic, and a wonderful host. Those places are very rare, but they are a tremendous blessing.
Dogs at Camp is like that. One hundred beautiful pastoral acres staffed with a team that really knows dogs, really loves them, and takes care of them like no-one else.
They are truly one of a kind. I can't imagine there are many other places that could be as excellent. Owners can be fussy people. And some dog owners may have personal issues and burdens that are of no concern to the dog.
I almost never review anything online, in part because there are often just carping trolls out there. But I feel strongly about how great Dogs at Camp is, and I want other dogs to benefit as much as mine does.
Dogs are often so very much smarter than their owners. So ask Argyle. He knows. And he will tell you. Woof! read more
