As we were leaving I said "we didn't really appreciate all the dirty looks we were getting, bye." And this cashier followed us out to berate us and tell us "if you had better control over your children[she wouldn't be giving us dirty looks]" I said " ma'am both my kids have ADHD I was trying my best what do you want me to do? Never take them in public?" And she continued to berate us as we were walking to the parking lot, she literally didn't need to do any of that, she could have just taken the feedback and not said anything as we were already out the door as I was saying it, but no, she felt the need to give her judgment at what terrible parents we apparently are. If she has adult children I'd definitely understand why they no longer speak to her, but I'm sure it's more likely with how bitter and unhappy she is that she doesn't have a family at all. DO NOT COME HERE WITH KIDS! These people clearly only want adult customers as all kids can't be perfectly behaved all the time and that's what the staff members who work here expect. I'd give zero stars if I could and return what we did purchase from them because clearly the owners have no problem employing bitter and rude employees who are fine at looking at their customers like they're worse than the dirt stuck to the bottom of their shoes. Please don't give them your business, especially if you have kids.

When I decided to go to Iowa Outdoor Products (IOP) in June 2025, it was to make an investment in…read moremy yard both short term while I'm alive, and long term long after I'm gone. So, with that in mind, I paid $600+ for a Sun Valley Sugar Maple, and 60% of the cost of the tree - thus, another $360 - to have Iowa Outdoor Products professionally plant the tree. So, when all was said and done, the tree was a $1,000 investment (a second tree, which I planted, cost another $550). Although $1,000 is a lot to pay for a tree, I thought that having it "professionally" planted gave me the protection of a better warranty versus me planting it myself, and that I might get a tip or two when I spoke to the two IOP guys who planted the Sugar Maple about how to help it become a healthy, full-grown tree. [I did get a tip about watering it, but that was it.] So, fast forward exactly six months to the day after the tree was planted, and the attached photo shows the result. Apparently, although I had three feet of trunk guard on the tree, the neighborhood buck must have spent Christmas night rubbing his antlers up and down the exposed trunk right above the trunk guard, and the result is a ripped-up tree that is now likely to be dead in the next three years. Although bummed, I was happy that I paid the extra fee to have it planted, thus, knowing the warranty would cover the cost of having it replaced (Home Depot, Menards, Earl May, etc. famously have similar warranties covering the first year of life). Or, so I thought. Two things about that, neither which is good. First, when I called IOP shortly after I discovered the damage, the person who answered the phone expressed concern, and told me that it was "antler rub" damage, which, I now know, was correct. Had I heard SIX MONTHS EARLIER that such a thing existed, I would have had six feet of trunk guard on the tree, and the damage never would have happened. The person answering the phone, a young man, said that IOP recommends wrapping the tree - they, of course, sell tree wrap. He suggested that I wrap the tree, and address replacing it "in the spring". After the call, I googled "antler rub" damage, and five articles popped up, NONE which recommended wrapping the tree - apparently, that hasn't been recommended for at least a decade - but, rather, "bark tracing" is the suggested resolution now. But, not wanting to jeopardize the warranty, I wrapped the damage as instructed, and added another three feet of trunk guard to prevent further damage. So, second issue, fast forward to March 5, 2026. I called IOP and spoke with Natalie, the manager. I told Natalie what had happened, that I had called in late December, and that I was told to call her "in the spring". This was that call. Based on the contact in December, I could tell that she was expecting the call. I was surprised however, when it seemed to me that she pulled out a script and started to tell me - or, read to me, maybe - that the warranty did NOT cover animal damage, nor anything, really, other than problems resulting from the "root stock" (aka, extremely rare genetic issues, apparently). Hearing my disappointment (again, Home Depot and Earl May have better warranties), she added that she'd heard anecdotal stories that the tree "might survive". I mentioned the google comment that the tree would likely be dead in three years which prompted her to reread the script about the lousy IOP "warranty". I asked why someone from IOP couldn't have warned me about the potential for "antler rub" damage - say, the IOP guys who I watched plant the tree - and, she said that they were "too busy" to impart such wisdom. It would have taken, like, ten seconds. Instead, she said that "they" gave me some literature somewhere along the way that might have mentioned something about it; but, other than that, I was on my own. So, BUYER BEWARE: Iowa Outdoor Products IS expensive, they provide MINIMAL guidance to the success of your tree, they ignorantly use OUTDATED practices, and any warranty that you think you have, ISN'T WORTH THE PAPER THAT IT'S WRITTEN ON.

Update: After my…read moreoriginal review, the owner finally reached out to me and we had a conversation about the issues with the wedding flowers. We discussed the color concerns and ultimately agreed on a $1,000 refund. I appreciate that he eventually contacted me and worked toward a resolution. However, it took over a month to receive a response, and the process was much more difficult than it should have been. We will also be using part of the refund to pay our photographer to edit the floral colors in some of the wedding photos so they better match the wedding color palette. My original concern has never been about the quality of the flowers themselves. The bouquets, boutonnieres, and centerpieces were beautiful. The issue was that the colors used did not match the burgundy/wine, dusty rose, and blush palette that was discussed and approved during the planning process. I wanted to update my review to reflect that a refund was provided. At the same time, I think it's important for future couples to know that while the flowers were beautiful, the final colors were not what we had planned, and it took considerable follow-up before our concerns were addressed. **** The flowers for my daughter's wedding were beautiful, and the bouquets, boutonnieres, and centerpieces were all well put together. Communication throughout the planning process was also very good, which is why this experience was ultimately so disappointing. The biggest issue was that the floral color palette did not match what we had discussed and approved. During our meetings, we reviewed a specific palette of burgundy/wine, dusty rose, and blush tones, along with fabric swatches and inspiration photos. However, the flowers used on the wedding day included noticeable lavender and fuchsia tones that were not part of the wedding color pallet. After the wedding, I reached out to the wedding coordinator, to ask why the colors were different. She apologized but said the flowers were "magenta" and "bright wine," not purple. I sent a photo comparing the flowers to the approved color palette, but never received a response. I also reached out to the owner and did not hear back. What disappointed me most wasn't just the color issue--it was the lack of follow-up and accountability afterward. Weddings are once-in-a-lifetime events, and the details matter. While the flowers themselves were beautiful, the overall design was not what we had planned, and no real effort was made to address our concerns. I've used Boesen for years, both personally and professionally, which makes this experience even more frustrating. Based on the quality of the flowers alone, I would have given a much higher rating. Unfortunately, the lack of communication and resolution after the wedding left a lasting negative impression.

The inside was definitely cool although they are currently limiting it to two customers at a time due to social distancing. The lady who helped us was wearing a bandanna as a mask and the other person had a cloth mask on. The whole store, while going for that cluttered chic look was very clean. Masks are required per the mandate. I would definitely go back.
