I came in one day to see Conrad, Dr. Sax himself, regarding a second-hand saxophone I had just recently bought. He and the two other workers I met that day were so cool. I remember having a conversation with them about using someone else's reed and they entertained me with some horror stories they've dealt with in their time. Conrad gave the saxophone a look over, told me what it needed and gave me a very reasonable price. I asked if I should get the whole saxophone cleaned out and he assured me that it will be getting a good flushing, but there was no need to put it through a royal wash. I like it when people are honest with their customers and don't just recommend something purely to make more money. You get a good sense that these guys will treat your saxophone like it was a sensitive, living thing.
I'll never forget when he called to let me know my saxophone was ready to pick up. He said it was now in good working order, then preceded to play a tune on the saxophone for me to hear. Doctor Sax not only repairs saxophones but sells and buys them as well. read more
