Expect to kneel on the ground and get muddy knees, and dirty hands. They will provide gloves and basic tools. Highly recommend you bring a hat, sun screen, and bug repellent. If you drive to the Patch, I would also highly recommend bringing a towel per person for the car. You will get dirty and may not wish to sit in your car with a muddy backside. This is a rewarding experience, very calming, and great for kids (I would say 10+ so long as they are well behaved as running around and general horseplay is not tolerated or appreciated).
