Without any PRE-DISCLOSURE EASILY VISIBLE, they round up purchases to the next dollar amount (USD$$) My cash purchase was in USD for $11.45, but they requested $12.00 USD. The clerk had a snippy attitude when I asked for change, even if it was in Canadian coins. She said that they never give coin change in any currency, and that they ALWAYS round up to the next dollar. When I inquired where this was posted BEFORE making a purchase, the clerk stated that it was on a back corner of the glass top where items were being rung up....It was a large rectangular counter and she pointed to the furthest corner away from me to a little piece of paper that looked taped on.....this is very sneaky of them-- So their pockets are being lined with any coin change from who know how many customers?? I will be CERTAIN to walk on by this store on any future visits. Shoppers...there are other souvenir shops on the same street to consider that WILL give coin change!

During a couple of early-morning walks to the Wharf, and walkabouts there, daughter and I spotted items in the windows of the shop (when it was closed) that we thought definitely needed to be checked out, so we planned a third return on a subsequent morning for their opening time of 11am. So happy we did - got to see all the "treasures" close-up and personal. What really caught my eye, and the purchases made (once I sent daughter out of the store so that I could shop away from her viewing!!): -- ceramic (porcelain) pottery - designed and created by artist Laura Sharp, White Owl Pottery, Calgary, AB -- a large, (tea) cup for my lady, a tall, (coffee) 'mug' w/handle for daughter (the piece in the window that "called" her come back to the store), and a tall, (cold drink) tumber for me. I chose three very different, unique, and what I thought were 'personal' pieces, but with a common theme for use. Each piece was white, with very dark brown or black used to create the very different and distinctive decorative designs. In themselves, attractive as art pieces, but each practical for use as well. -- raku pottery - rock rattles - designed and created by artists Janet Grabner and John Dahm, Caracol Clay Studio, East Coulee (Drumheller), AB -- two different and beautiful designs, one for my lady, and one for me. I was delighted to see these items in the shop, but was happily surprised when I asked the owners where they had been made -- my lady was born in Drumheller, some many moons ago - there was no hesitation on my part, one definitely had to go home with her (and I love rock rattles, so one had to go home with me as well). We had looked through the windows of the closed shop and were curious about what we saw. I'm so glad daughter and I ventured back and got to go inside. It's a lovely little shop, with many 'treasures' - both keepsake and practical. And the owners are so likeable - personable, friendly, and helpful 'hosts. The result of my shopping: I think I did good - there was an opening of the boxes held back at our hotel that evening - the ladies were sure thrilled with what they received. My thanks to the owners, Natasha and Serge, for helping me make our last day in Victoria so enjoyable.

During a short visit to Duncan for Father's Day, I was excited to spend quality time with my Dad and treat him to some new clothes. We searched for menswear options and Outlooks came up first, so we headed there full of enthusiasm and ready to shop. We walked in smiling and ready for a great experience. I introduced my Father and explained we were looking to outfit him with some new pieces. The saleswoman took one look at him and flatly said, "We have nothing for him." No effort. No conversation. No alternative suggestions. Just a dismissive brush-off and out the door we went--feeling dejected and frankly, unwelcome. Thankfully, just two doors down was Jim's Clothes Closet. Not only did they greet us warmly, but their amazing team, especially CoCo, helped my Dad find pants in the exact size the Outlook's employee insisted wouldn't fit him. On top of that, he left with shirts, belts, a hat, and a great vest--plus a smile on his face. Outlooks Menswear gave us the worst customer service experience I've had in years. If you value your time, your money, and being treated like a human being, keep walking right past this place.
