The rack wasn't secured to anything, weighed less than our tandem and was out in the open, no cover at all and the forecast was for rain for the next 24 hours. I asked if we could store it in their shed - No, I asked if we could park it on their back porch that was covered - again - No. So our nice expensive tandem had to stay out in the rain. Not very accommodating I would say. Then we get a tour of the Inn. The kitchen tour was interesting. This cabinet has cereals (Fiber 1 and Corn Flakes) the milk is in the Fridge, help yourself. This is how to operate the coffee pot in the morning the first one up in the morning makes it. Here is the toaster you can make yourself toast in the morning. There was also some tasteless dry banana bread and some brown bananas. What a great start to a day of riding. The room was nice and spacious but it doesn't offset the cons of the place. I would not stay here I would run as fast as I could. Definitely NOT recommending this place to anyone!

Situated in between New Glasgow and Antigonish NS. Very easy to find, you can see their red roof from a distance as you approach it! We traveled with our 4 year old son, the inn is perfect for families. They have 3 very personable dogs, a pack of alpaca's, a coop full of chickens, and a donkey named Danny. Beautiful property that has access to the beach, what a coast line! Stunning sunset views over the water, and the star gazing at night was beyond great. A very short ride down the road brings you to Arisaig Provincial Park, where you can walk along the beach and see fossils. We stopped as we were leaving Nova Scotia, Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail on our way back to the states. A good stopping off point for a similar road trip. Also close to Pictou and the PEI ferry. The innkeepers Josie and Jim are wonderful people with a gem of a home. Cannot recommend their hospitality enough!

Our hosts were quiet but friendly, not a chatty bunch like some B&Bs where we have stayed. Down by the water is a great strandkorb, imported from Germany, where you and your partner can sit with a beer or glass of wine and look at the water to relaaaax. There is no swimming in the water (too rocky), but it's still lovely to explore and take photos, watch the wildlife, and breath the fresh air. The only downside to the stay was that you had to pay an extra charge for breakfast. Granted, the breakfast was delightful, but it pushed our stay into a slightly more expensive zone than we had wanted.

This it the place you want to stay at particularly if you are looking for a quiet restful retreat. The dining room was closed for evening meals due to Covid. I erred and chose to go to Whycomough to eat. It was a drive and just about every eating establishment was closed. We would have fared better heading to Inverness. The breakfast in the morning was so very good. Fresh local fruit, the best coffee and homemade whole wheat pancakes with real maple syrup and butter. Quiet! The home is deep in from the road so there is absolutely no traffic. The walls between the rooms and floor are completely soundproof. Our hostess advised us that if we needed them in the evening we would have to phone. Their room was directly below us but there just is no noise transmission. If you are taking the ferry to Newfoundland I suggest you consider this place.

It was large and roomy with nice kitchen and living room areas. The breakfasts were fresh and delicious and different each morning. When we booked, we did it as a package and also got books, passes to several attractions/museums and tickets to 2 musicals. The location was perfect. Upon entering the door my heart must have sank looking at the old house. I though this is going to be a long night. The welcome was warm and friendly and John was funny. Which was a relief. He showed us the bedroom which seemed older. But as we settled we came to grips that this must be a century home. The hardwood floors, the ceiling, the crown moulding, the railings outside, the bathroom. It can be a museum. The bed was OK, but the room had character. Overlooking the river and some side small rooms also rented by the same folks. Please refer to the pictures to believe it. The living room (parlour then) was amazing. They have pictures of the original owners. The house built more than 130 years ago!! We also told the host that we were vegetarian no eggs and a vegan. The host still made amazing breakfast for us. My family stayed in a unit in the house so I can only speak for it, but it was so adorable! The floors were a little creaky and I don't think soundproofing was fantastic, but the furnishings were old-school and very cute. The slanted ceiling, old wooden wardrobe, pictures and quilts, lacy curtains, and the washroom (with a shower and a separate old-style bathtub) had an adorable antique vibe. The size of the room was standard, but the washroom was quite roomy. I personally loved it! I believe it was a heritage house. It also had an amazing view of the harbour. Unfortunately we got in late and it faced west so we couldn't see sunrise, but I imagine sunset would've been spectacular! We also had breakfast there. If you're looking for fast grab-and-go this probably isn't the place (although I'm sure you can make arrangements), since there was just a couple as staff. However, the service was great and they were super attentive. The food was home-style and made on the spot to order, and coffee is freshly ground coffee beans pressed. It was a relaxing meal overlooking the beautiful view of the water. Would recommend a stay here :)

What an amazing place to stay!…read more I'm so so happy we booked a three day package here because we had such a lovely time! This bed and breakfast is owned by Judy and her family and they are the sweetest people ever. We arrived quite early on Tuesday morning because our flight from Montreal left at 7 AM. Thankfully the room was ready for us before noon which was a pleasant surprise! Judy took the time to explain everything to us in the sitting room and she gave us a bunch of info pamphlets on restaurants and activities on the island. Our room was on the top floor so we had to carry all our stuff up two flights of stairs which was good exercise. The room had two beds, one queen and one single. The single was in the room with the desk, couch, chair, and TV. The bathroom was small but definitely functional and we were provided with dove shampoos and body wash. Our room was cleaned daily and towels were changed out. There was an AC unit in our room but we only had to use it once one afternoon when it was quite hot and muggy. We preferred to open the windows and get a nice cross breeze through the room. Parking is super easy right outside on the lawn. Breakfast is communal downstairs from 8-9 and you have your choice of eggs & bacon, French toast, oatmeal, or cereal. They definitely know how to cook eggs here so shout out to the chef in the kitchen! My mom ordered poached eggs and they were done perfectly, and I definitely enjoyed my over hard eggs. The jams were super yummy as well; not sure if they are made in PEI but they were perfect on the buttered toast. Prior to receiving your main meal you get to start off with fresh fruit, tea or coffee, and orange juice. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Judy, her two daughters, and her husband. They are so sweet and hospitable and willing to take the time to talk to you and see how your day went. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone coming to PEI who wants to stay in an old style Victorian house with a lovely family :)

She is chock-full of Island history and has all of the insider tips any visitor could desire. She made sure we got the full Anne of Green Gables experience (my wish) and the best seafood meals (my husband's) while we were there. We had such a lovely, relaxing visit as a result of her advice and help. I think staying at the Barachois enhanced our feeling of returning to Anne's childhood home, too. Returning to quaint North Rustico each evening and retiring to our cozy b&b helped immerse us in that feeling of coming home, as Anne often referenced in the book. Thank you, Judy and Andrea, for keeping our spacious room tidy and clean, and for the delicious breakfasts and equally tantalizing stories about the island.

Because of tire issues, we arrived very late - after 8 p.m. Lyne stayed and greeted us on arrival. She was pleasant, accommodating, and recommended a place that would be open for dinner late (places are not open very late). The room was beautiful and nicely appointed. It was a pretty small room, but it made good use of space. It was very clean. The bed was very comfortable with nice, soft linens. There was also good temperature control and the room was quiet. The room also had a nice balcony that would be nice to view sunsets. There was plenty of parking and the access in the back made it real easy to unload/load the car. You order breakfast when you check-in. The breakfast was pretty good and very filling which was good as we headed out on the Cabot Trail. Very nice B&B.

I cannot recommend the setting enough; it's a Victorian style home, beautifully and immaculately kept, expansive gardens, and behind it all, the curated remnants of the original town hydroelectric wood and concrete dam.
