Once you have been in London for a few years, you will get used to taxi culture - black cab drivers getting shirty if you don't tip, road rage and so on...it is always nice when you find a reliable local taxi company to save you from any potential drama. Dockhead Cars are an interesting bunch of guys to say the least. All born and bred in the local area they certainly know their way around London and love nothing more than a good old natter whilst escorting you to your destination. They also have a delightful habit of deliberating over who takes what job - this usually takes around 10 minutes if you pop into the office without booking. They are very reliable, friendly and don't charge ridiculous amounts for journeys. With Christmas on the way, they may also try and sell you a few bottles of wine as I believe this may be another little business they have on the side! read more

This place is very hit and miss, short jouneys can cost you an arm and a leg and you are better off waiting for a black cab, longer ones less so but still generally better to get a price before you get in. read more

Dockhead cars are unprofessional, rude and unreliable. I specifically asked them if they had a child seat and they said they did. We had to catch a train to go to Gatwick and ended up stuck without a taxi because they did not have a child seat at all! I do NOT recommend them. read more

NOT RELIABLE & RUDE I booked a taxi, meant to pick me up at 4 in the morning. It never came, and I very nearly missed my train. I called the next day, the only answer they could give was: "I know nothing about it". No apologies. Just avoid. read more

Never had any problems with these boys. They even helped us out taking our dying (large) dog to the vets because he was too ill to walk. Absolute heroes. Also very reliable for early morning airport transfers. read more
