I had a total knee replaced at Taos Orthopedic 3 years ago. My other knee had been replaced 7…read moreyears ago by another practice in Albuquerque. Two months ago, the knee replaced by Taos Orthopedic became septic. Emergency surgery was required to deal with the infection and to partially rebuild that knee. To understand how serious my condition was, I was on IV antibiotics 24 hours a day for 5 weeks after the emergency surgery. I am now on daily oral antibiotics and will be through next summer. The source of the infection cannot be determined with certainty. However, my older knee replacement was entirely unaffected by the infection that has seriously compromised the knee replacement done by Taos Orthopedic. If you are contemplating surgery at Taos Orthopedic, think very carefully. The least that can be said, based on my own experience, is that surgery done there represents a real throw of the dice.
