DNA Heritage is a top notch genetic genealogy service. They offer DNA tests for genealogy in which every test is run in duplicate to ensure precision.
For surname projects I host, I offer a choice between DNA Heritage and Family Tree DNA (in the States).
When I am ordering a test, my initial question is, "Is it important to me that this test is stored a long time?" If the answer is yes, then I choose Family Tree DNA (I tested my grand uncle in 2004 and he has since passed away, so it is important to me that his sample is stored as long as possible in case further testing capabilities are revealed). If the sample is not precious, then I choose DNA Heritage because of their excellence in accuracy. I once had a test with a value for DYS464 that DNA Heritage correctly scored but two other labs mis-reported; the other labs later acknowledged DNA Heritage was correct.
Pros and cons of DNA Heritage:
+ is very reputable
+ is prompt and helpful at answering questions
+ is the only lab that tests all genetic genealogy samples in duplicate!
+ is cheaper (43 markers for $149 vs. Family Tree DNA's 37 markers for $149)
+ uses the only laboratory in the world to be ISO accredited for genealogical testing
+ follows NIST standardised scientific nomenclature
+ maintains Ybase
+ returns results within 3.5 weeks!
- tests fewer Y-DNA markers (43 markers vs. 67 at Family Tree DNA)
- currently only stores DNA for 3 years (vs. 20 years at Family Tree DNA)
