When I was in elementary, cross stitching was introduced to us in homemaking class. It seemed easier than a lot of the other stitches the teacher was making us do. Eventually, I took a liking to it and it grew into a personal hobby.
At the time, Precious Moments was all the rage and I remember wanting to desperately take on the months long challenge of finishing a complex pattern. My sister told me about DMC World and I went there first chance I got to look for patterns and threads. They had patterns with all the thread that you need so you don't need to waste money on buying a whole spool for one color and end up using just a few inches of it; I didn't like the designs, so I just bought the Precious Moments pattern books. I only got to finish and frame one. :(
Nowadays, if you check their social media sites, they have announcements for workshops where they teach you how to sew, crochet and make other crafty things. It's definitely a fun way to relieve stress even as a grown up! read more
