Planning a wedding or other big social event? Villa Soludden might be able to help you. My sister…read morehad her wedding reception here and it was AMAZING. The buses took us all over without any problem. The ride in is through the Swedish countryside, with constant reminders of the shore nearby. There are a number of rooms available at the villa for those spending the night, but this is not a large hotel so space may be limited depending on your venue. The rooms are cozy but very nice, keeping with Swedish simplicity and functionality. The outside deck was a perfect size to watch the sunset with family, friends, drinks and a late night coffee. The deck puts right into the water (no railings) so watch your step unless you plan on going in. If you do, the sauna is nearby. I did not use these myself but reports indicated they had been exceptional. It is not one big room but a number of smaller private areas to relax. The Dinning area was substantial but all of the charming characteristics of the space had been maintained. This was by no means a big cold boxy US hotel ball room. -gag- The Villa staff was on top of everything. Food came out hot and on schedule. It was amazing. I really wish I had taken photos but I was getting to know my new family and truly enjoying myself. Now I believe that any good wedding venue or other large event depends on both the venue staff as much as the clients planning. This event was magnificently orchestrated without excessive fuss. The Swedes are a reserved but charming people and it really came through. Us Americans have no shame when it comes to breaking the ice and getting things going. So these two qualities and many more meshed well and resulted in a great time. This makes it difficult to distinguish between the Villa and the wedding party. After the meal we headed down to the dance floor to enjoy the booming sounds from a band that was bought in for this event. They did an amazing job and people danced until the plug was pulled. We made our way out to a cab that had been called in and headed back to Stockholm. The drive was about 30 minutes and about 60 Dollars I believe. Swedish premium cabs are BMW's. So pretty good. Those that spent the night had a nice morning. With a bit of swimming, Bloody Mary's and of course the saunas. Breakfast is in there someplace. Highly recommended for a special event. Villa Soludden helped facilitate a wonderful event.

The yellow manor sits on a hill and welcomes guests to sit inside or on it's beautiful deck overlooking the lush field and water. I still think about the mouth watering fish stew. The sauce was phenomenal- so good it could be eaten on its own like a lobster bisque. The fish was of wide variety and of high quality. Everything was obviously local given its freshness. The portions were quite generous. We had three plates of food between four of us and were unable to finish. My only complaint relating to the food was that flies were constantly around our plates-- we had to cover the bowls with napkins to keep them out. The service was great-- our waiter was a former professional figure skater and talked at length about his travels in the States. He offered great recommendations for both food and more to do on the island. I can see myself coming to Grinda and even staying in the hotel, just so I can visit the restaurant once again. You won't be disappointed!

I came here for a day & overnight stay without really knowing what to expect…read more The island is beautiful, loads of great places to take a walk, have a picnic, a swim etc. I came here in May and found that the only place to get food was this hotel. The menu is mostly if not entirely seafood, which may not suit everyone.I had lunch and dinner here and stayed overnight in one of there rooms and had breakfast the next day. Lunch service is pretty slow, slow to get a seat, to order and to receive food. You need to wait to be seated, we stood waiting for 10minutes, 3 waiters standing right in front of us, we asked one for a seat and they told us another waiter would take care of us an to continue to wait. This was pretty frustrating as we were really hungry and the place was pretty quiet. The menu is very pricey, the cheapest starter for lunch was 165k and consisted of tiny portions of 3 different hake an 3 tiny potatoes. We asked for a white wine that was 390kr, the cheapest option and was told it wasn't available. The next wine costing 490kr, we decided to go with a cider instead. We were told we had to book Dinner and were given 2 times, 5:30 or 8:30. I've no idea why were given only 2 options as we spent a good hour hanging out in the lobby with a drink before dinner an there were plenty of tables! Dinner service was quick and tasty. I got the seafood casserole which was very good. And the chocolate mousse was delicious. The breakfast was a continental spread where you serve yourself, good options on food, nice warm croissants. I would have liked more options with the coffee, having only one type. I'm more of a cappuccino gal an there was no option for this. The overnight stay was really good. Our room was very nice, comfortable and clean. We got a room in one of there back cabin style houses which really made us feel like we were sleeping in the woods :-) Overall Grinda is a beautiful island to visit, I would recommend coming here, but if I was coming again I would pack a picnic and bring it with me. You'll pay a huge amount for lunch here otherwise. If your not interested in staying in a hotel, there are cabins you can rent on the island also. The hotel is more suited for a couple looking for a luxury night break. I would defiantly stop here if I was sailing from island to island :) Overall I wouldn't return here to stay as found it to be too expensive. -1 for service and for expense, it really feels like they are taking advantage of being the only restaurant here.

Get there - they see 2 of us and refuse to allow us in without an additional 200 kr. We show them the website- show them on phone nowhere to click " 2 people" and that we booked a " double room". Aka 2 people. They tell us the beds and rooms do not accommodate 2 people and we need to pay even more to a 4 person family suite. We ask to speak to the manager . They refuse. We continue to ask to explanation and take out card as it appears there is no way around this madness. and the woman behind the desk starts snapping and raising their voice at us that we are " screaming " at her and she will refuse to allow us in hotel. She walks away and so does the several other people checking people in. We are left standing there mystified. No manager appears . There is one woman at the counter left and we ask her what the hell just happened and told her we were clearly not shouting. She checks us in . We get to the clearly for 2 people room- large bed- 2 wine glasses- 2 water glasses- 2 cups for coffee- 2 identical sets of towels. What a total scam to milk people out of money by demanding last min fees. We will not be staying at Clarion properties again and will use the Raddison next time.

This hotel is attached to the airport so you never have to venture outside into the cold and snow. Their breakfast starts at 4am - for those of us that have a super early flight. This is the earliest breakfast start time I've ever experienced. And the free breakfast buffet was extensive - almost to the level of resort buffets. Check-in and checkout were super easy with the friendly people at the front desk However- I could not get the heating to work. It was pretty chilly in my room considering one wall was all glass overlooking the runway. (Absolutely no noises coming through the glass). Not much change in temperature after adjusting the thermostat, so I called the front desk and they offered a space heater. It took a bit of time, but the room warmed up to comfortable. Other than that hiccup, I would stay here again for all the benefits they offer.
