Because I am a child of the internet, my search for a GTA MC with the ability to speak Canto, Mando, and English led me to Roy's Weddingwire profile, then his Facebook, then his impressive highlight reel. He seemed energetic, fun, and most importantly, reasonably priced! He also has a team that does DJ-ing. Perfect. We exchanged emails over the year of planning, answered some questions, but ultimately, I didn't get the full effect of his awesomeness until the day of. The games he played were a total surprise to us and he planned everything with some input from us on comfort level. The end result? Perfectly professional, brought hype to the room like no other, and made everyone's night! His games were unique, and most importantly, interactive. You know that shoe game so many people play? (Couple back-to-back, raises shoes for answers to "who is more likely..." questions). Cute, simple, but really kinda the same after awhile. Roy put his own spin on it and brought the audience in so in the end, everyone was having fun! He worked diligently with our vendors. Along with our coordinator, the timing was well-paced. Delays were handled seamlessly. He juggled between languages perfectly. Friends and family alike couldn't stop raving about how great our host was, citing him as one of the highlights of the wedding. Roy was so much more than just our MC. He was our GM for the reception and the entertainer. By the…read moretime it got to the reception half of the day was done and the timing of events for the reception was much more detailed. Even with a schedule I planned just weeks before Roy was able to run the whole show as if we had rehearsed it and planned every detail. This gave us incredible peace of mind. Roy was truly the professional MC. He spoke eloquently and was able to cater to a room of people that spoke 3 languages and have them all laugh. It was a Filipino- Chinese wedding and both sides were entertained by the games that we played and the flow of the night. When my hard- to -please aunt told my dad after the wedding that she was impressed by the MC I knew that we had chosen right. He prepared the bridal party along the way by reminding us if there was a dress change to be done, a slide show coming up or a speech. The wedding went by fast especially with so much fun and we truly appreciate Roy's ability to manage us. We opted to have his DJ come with him and it was another great choice. She was amazing. She was completely in tune with what the guests wanted to hear and had us dancing until the venue had to close. Choosing Roy was one of the best decisions we had for our wedding. His sales tactic is to diss every other vendor we had in mind which I found to be unprofessional so his rapport with us was already ruined. Also, we already booked our caterer and mentioned it to him when he tried to upsell us and all he could say was how bad they were (which was false in the end, the wedding catering was great!). He also kept saying he's only of a few MC providers that have young bilingual people in the GTA (which, again, was false). He kept pushing for us to hire his son to be our MC even though we didn't want to. I absolutely dislike pushy, unprofessional salesman. However, because he is one of a few vendors who could create a name plate for our backdrop, we had to hire him. That experience was also very unpleasant. We hired him back in February and paid him a deposit. He takes our money and ignores our requests for a design draft of the name plate for a good 3 months until we had to call him and hunt him down. Even then, over the phone he'll say he'll send over a draft tomorrow but we still get nothing. I had to send an angry email so that he would finally respond and send over a draft. We reviewed it and chose our design. NO RESPONSE AGAIN! Not even to confirm that he's received an email. Two weeks before the wedding, we chased him down again and finally got him to tell us the timeline on when we can get those name plate ready. When we picked up the name plate two days before the wedding, the work was sloppy! Broken in different places and obvious quick fixes in other broken areas (he tried to glue them back together). I have never worked with a vendor that is this unresponsive and create this much stress over a simple name plate. There were many things he could have done to make this process easier. For one, be responsive and update us on what to expect and what's happening!!!! If you need a name plate for your backdrop, go elsewhere or not have one at all. Price was expensive, service was horrible and stressful.
