Being my first tea room, I was extremely impressed. The U.S. needs to jump on this afternoon tea and cake idea! Indira and I have been traveling the UK, now staying with a friend in Wrea Green for a few days, and decided to get a snack down the road at the Dizzy Duck. Definitely recommend!
Indira and I both ordered what they call a potato jacket. The name fits very well since it is a potato cut in half and stuffed full of whichever items you choose (like the items are wearing a jacket!) The prices here are very fair, about 6 pounds for a very filling lunch. My potato jacket was stuffed with bacon, mushrooms and thyme. Not the shitty processed American bacon either, but the thick local, fresh from the butcher bacon they serve here in England. Indira's on the other hand was covered in cheese and beans, and looked just as delicious! The potatoes also come with cole slow and a salad.
Along with excellent food, the service was great. You can see the entire kitchen when you enter the restaurant, and the staff is very friendly and right there to help. Although we didn't eat any, the variety of cakes was extensive and looked wonderful. This tea room is also right next to the lovely park in the area so you can go relax after getting filled up. read more
