The space itself is small enough to feel cozy with plenty of seating options, including high-top and low-top tables, two couches, and a bar along the front window, which is great for people who want to spend some time there. There are plenty of outlets and two private bathrooms, both stocked with sanitary products. Drink wise, you won't find an elaborate list of over the top designer lattes here but they do have a seasonal beverage or two and a variety of syrups (rose, lavender, caramel, etc) you can add to enhance your drink. I'm a sucker for their mocha. It's so rich and delicious without being heavy or overly sweet. They also have some baked goods & some of the best ice cream sandwiches I've ever had. Recently, Ember & Forge installed a free food pantry outside, another reflection of their deep commitment to our community. It's easy to feel good supporting a business like that.

They offer a wide selections of books, both well-loved (2nd-hand) and new, from Mystery, Romance, History, to Children's books. It is such a relaxing and peaceful experience to browse around the store, looking for a treasure to be found (You can also join their book club). If you are looking for a gift or souvenir, there are also small gifts such as stationary items or treats from local places like Lake Erie Candy Co. All the way in the back is a coffee shop that sources coffee from North Edge Craft Coffee (Erie's own roasting company), and a bakery, offering foods such as bagels and cupcakes. So far, I have only tried Chai tea latte and Dirty chai, but will definitely try other items in the future. My favourite part here, other than delicious drinks and books, are that they offer to buy back the book that you recently purchased, and will give you store credit to be used for your next purchase, or you can also bring in any books you currently own, and sell it to them for store credit. Service provided for a pre-ordered pineapple upside down cake was bad. It was ordered a week prior…read more Agreed pickup would be about 5pm the evening before it was needed, and the owner forgot! It was agreed she'd deliver it to the location in the morning. It was needed before 2pm but the plan was to have it there in the AM. Because she forgot, and it was unsure if she'd come through, a homemade cake was made just in case. It wasn't until 1:15 that she texted on way!! Cake arrived, a bit sloppy and still warm. Ended up with two cakes. The whole point was not to bake the night before and yet, $50 later, still had to! The cake was basic with pineapple on it. Not bad just not great, for bakery cake. A bit dry. Not as expected. It's too bad because she came recommended by other local bakers and she's a very nice lady. She offers poetry nights and displays artists work. I'd recommend for that. I cannot speak about the beverages or other foods/desserts. The cafe gets 3 stars because of the community events and she offers other items I didn't try. But I will not pre-order items or recommend anyone to do so.
