Stop by this restaurant on our way back to Orlando. Big mistake. Chicken lacked seasoning/flavor, the fries were soft/soggy, the hush puppies had no flavor, and on top of that they charged for a squirt of sweet baby rays barbecue sauce. The only thing that had some flavor were the corn nuggets. We thought it was going to be similar to the Orlando's old Dixie chicken restaurant, but we were sadly mistaken. I was in the area working and a friend said this place was amazing. I ordered the 8 pc family meal with fries and 2 sides for $20 with the intention of having dinner as well with the leftovers. The sides were so small basically single serve. (See photo) The chicken was very crunchy and cooked great, but was lacking any flavor. Reminded me of the fried chicken my mom used to make. No seasoning at all. I did get a nice amount of fries but the other sides will only feed a family of 3 if each member takes a SMALL spoonful. Even though the fries were more than enough for one person certainly not enough for 3 or more. I'm floored how this can be considered a "family meal combo" given the size of the side portions. Admittedly maybe an employee messed up and gave me the wrong size, but I wasn't turning around to find out. All in all, I think Publix chicken is way better. read more

On our way to Everglades City to seek out some stone crabs we remembered reading about this place in the Palm Beach Post. We decided to stop by and get a "light" lunch on the way. We ordered a small size of fried chicken livers and small order of fish bites. We opted out of the fries and hush puppies but I'm sure they were fried perfectly. This place is hopping at lunch time and their focus is fried chicken and fish. Our orders were very goood and just enough to give us the experience without thee extras. We stopped at Dixie Fried Chicken on a drive from Tampa down to Hialeah for a quick lunch. The cashier that took our order was really friendly. We needed extra time deciding what to try since it was our first visit. She just smiled at us and let us take our time. The wait time was okay even though the diner was filling up. We ordered the chicken filet, bbq pulled chicken and pork chop sandwiches and some sides. The prices were very good and gave us the impression of a small town family favorite restaurant. The sandwiches were simple but fresh and tasty. The fries were made fresh and good. We tried the coleslaw and hush puppies and would order them again. The surprise favorite was the corn nuggets. Everyone in the family felt we should have gotten more of them. We will stop by on our next trip too. read more

There have been numerous reviews about this place, including write-ups in the newspaper. I happened to be in the area and decided to check this place out. The place is located in her rundown building right on the corner of Main Street, and it has minimal curb appeal. Upon entering the building, I had a flashback of the old-style McDonald's from years ago, but trust me this is no McDonald's, this is definitely Dixies, Dixie's fried chicken. Since they had no service on the inside we took an order to go, we each ordered a chicken dinner combo which included fries slaw and a roll. When opening the box, it really didn't look like much, the chicken was small, the fries were ample, and the food was piping hot. I was forced to eat in the car, and the first thing we started on was the french fries, the fries were greasy, soggy, but not really bad. The chicken was tiny, that told me there's no GMO, the crust was very crunchy, and the chicken was delicious. The minute I took a bite into the first chicken breast, I felt the crunch, and surprisingly the breast was juicy. The drumstick looks like the size of my thumb that again was very good. The chicken wing, made me realize why chickens can't fly, but again it was delicious. The coleslaw was nothing to write home about, and the roll they supplied was stale and horrible. When you go to a place like this you definitely do not go for the coleslaw or the bun, I recommend anybody going into the area to check this place out read more

Good local restaurant. This place is a deep fry specialist. Simple menu of fried chicken, fried fish, french fries, fried hush puppies..... you get the idea. You will likely be greeted by a small flock of chickens and roosters on your short walk from your car to the building. The birds are friendly and peaceful so I would assume that they are the welcoming committee and not protesting to free their fallen comrades. I opted for a mixed of white and dark meat fried chicken dinner which came with french fries, and coleslaw and an extra order of hush puppies. The chickens are lightly battered, crispy, and crunchy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. Moist and not greasy. The seasonings is a little on the light side for my preference. I would give the birds 7.2 / 10. The french fries, hush puppies, and coleslaw get a combined score of 4 /10. They are supporting casts. Nothing fancy. Nothing out of ordinary. I expected a bit more performance out of these supporting casts. The food comes out in a timely manner. I ate in the restaurant but most of the customers take their food to go. Most of the orders I overheard are winglets and tenders. I will have to try those next time I pass through Belle Glade. read more

After hearing my son rave about how great the chicken was, I had to try some for myself. I was in the area due to a doctor appointment and aftewards walked into Dixie Fried Chicken. I was greeted by the nicest woman and she took my order. I got a four piece with two sides and a large banana pudding which can only be described as "heavenly". The chicken was super tasty and the homemade macaroni salad was delicious. What a great find. If your in the area, I highly recommend a trip inside and place an order you wont forget. We were passing through on our drive from the Naples to Boynton Beach while on vacation from California. We yelped a place to eat and being lovers of fried chicken, we decided to stop in. Had delicious chicken and sides here today. We have been coming to Dixie fried chicken (all the way from Michigan) for many years and it never disappoints us! This is excellent fried chicken- very crisp exterior and juicy interior. The Cole slaw had some pickle in it, which was a nice touch. A huge amount of french fries but didn't touch them- it was all about the bird. Very pleasant service (thank you, Miss Trinity!), and quick.
