Stopped at Dixie Fried Chicken while driving through Belle Glade and grabbed a quick dinner before heading back on the road. The place was busy with locals picking up takeout orders, which usually feels like a good sign to me. The chicken came out fresh and hot with a crispy coating that held up even after sitting for a few minutes in the car. Staff at the counter moved people through pretty efficiently and still managed to stay polite during the rush. My order was ready close to the time they estimated, which I appreciated since I was trying to beat traffic. Nothing fancy about the place, but it felt dependable and straightforward in a good way. read more

I ordered the Chicken Tenders Meal ~ Cashier doesn't care to offer any welcome ~ food was hot & fresh ~ nothing to write home about ~ other than it was overpriced at near $13 This Restaurant has been going thru management and employee issues ~ but appears to possibly be on the recovery path ~ someone please take down that ridiculous sheet of COVID Plastic hanging from the Ceiling over the pickup counter read more

Chicken is always perfectly fried and juicy. The sides aren't large but they match the price

Stop by this restaurant on our way back to Orlando. Big mistake. Chicken lacked seasoning/flavor, the fries were soft/soggy, the hush puppies had no flavor, and on top of that they charged for a squirt of sweet baby rays barbecue sauce. The only thing that had some flavor were the corn nuggets. We thought it was going to be similar to the Orlando's old Dixie chicken restaurant, but we were sadly mistaken. Do yourself a favor, and just go to Popeyes. read more

I ordered an 8 piece meal: 2 wings, 2 thighs, 2 legs and 2 breasts. The only piece I enjoyed was the thigh. Everything else was overcooked and dry. I was very disappointed. I also thought it was overpriced. I was looking forward to going after reading about it. read more

I was in the area working and a friend said this place was amazing. I ordered the 8 pc family meal with fries and 2 sides for $20 with the intention of having dinner as well with the leftovers. The sides were so small basically single serve. (See photo) The chicken was very crunchy and cooked great, but was lacking any flavor. Reminded me of the fried chicken my mom used to make. No seasoning at all. I did get a nice amount of fries but the other sides will only feed a family of 3 if each member takes a SMALL spoonful. Even though the fries were more than enough for one person certainly not enough for 3 or more. I'm floored how this can be considered a "family meal combo" given the size of the side portions. Admittedly maybe an employee messed up and gave me the wrong size, but I wasn't turning around to find out. All in all, I think Publix chicken is way better. read more

On our way to Everglades City to seek out some stone crabs we remembered reading about this place in the Palm Beach Post. We decided to stop by and get a "light" lunch on the way. We ordered a small size of fried chicken livers and small order of fish bites. We opted out of the fries and hush puppies but I'm sure they were fried perfectly. This place is hopping at lunch time and their focus is fried chicken and fish. Our orders were very goood and just enough to give us the experience without thee extras. Also, the bathrooms are very clean! Most people ordered their meals to go but they do have a few indoor tables. read more

We stopped at Dixie Fried Chicken on a drive from Tampa down to Hialeah for a quick lunch. The cashier that took our order was really friendly. We needed extra time deciding what to try since it was our first visit. She just smiled at us and let us take our time. The wait time was okay even though the diner was filling up. We ordered the chicken filet, bbq pulled chicken and pork chop sandwiches and some sides. The prices were very good and gave us the impression of a small town family favorite restaurant. The sandwiches were simple but fresh and tasty. The fries were made fresh and good. We tried the coleslaw and hush puppies and would order them again. The surprise favorite was the corn nuggets. Everyone in the family felt we should have gotten more of them. We will stop by on our next trip too. read more

Dixie Fried Chicken - the interior of a car - Chicken Shop Near Me - Belle Glade, Florida

There have been numerous reviews about this place, including write-ups in the newspaper. I happened to be in the area and decided to check this place out. The place is located in her rundown building right on the corner of Main Street, and it has minimal curb appeal. Upon entering the building, I had a flashback of the old-style McDonald's from years ago, but trust me this is no McDonald's, this is definitely Dixies, Dixie's fried chicken. Since they had no service on the inside we took an order to go, we each ordered a chicken dinner combo which included fries slaw and a roll. When opening the box, it really didn't look like much, the chicken was small, the fries were ample, and the food was piping hot. I was forced to eat in the car, and the first thing we started on was the french fries, the fries were greasy, soggy, but not really bad. The chicken was tiny, that told me there's no GMO, the crust was very crunchy, and the chicken was delicious. The minute I took a bite into the first chicken breast, I felt the crunch, and surprisingly the breast was juicy. The drumstick looks like the size of my thumb that again was very good. The chicken wing, made me realize why chickens can't fly, but again it was delicious. The coleslaw was nothing to write home about, and the roll they supplied was stale and horrible. When you go to a place like this you definitely do not go for the coleslaw or the bun, I recommend anybody going into the area to check this place out read more

Old school restaurant, delicious fried chicken - worth a stop of you find yourself in that area

This list is right on the nose. I've been going there almost monthly pre-covid. Hadn't been in a few months as it's an effort and gas prices were a bit high. Drove by 2 weeks ago and they were closed with a Health Dept sticker on the door. The most recent violations are listed a little further down Under Health Notices. Ugh! read more

Good local restaurant. This place is a deep fry specialist. Simple menu of fried chicken, fried fish, french fries, fried hush puppies..... you get the idea. You will likely be greeted by a small flock of chickens and roosters on your short walk from your car to the building. The birds are friendly and peaceful so I would assume that they are the welcoming committee and not protesting to free their fallen comrades. I opted for a mixed of white and dark meat fried chicken dinner which came with french fries, and coleslaw and an extra order of hush puppies. The chickens are lightly battered, crispy, and crunchy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. Moist and not greasy. The seasonings is a little on the light side for my preference. I would give the birds 7.2 / 10. The french fries, hush puppies, and coleslaw get a combined score of 4 /10. They are supporting casts. Nothing fancy. Nothing out of ordinary. I expected a bit more performance out of these supporting casts. The food comes out in a timely manner. I ate in the restaurant but most of the customers take their food to go. Most of the orders I overheard are winglets and tenders. I will have to try those next time I pass through Belle Glade. read more

Neighborhood staple. I've been eating here since I was a child. Everything on the menu is good but my go to will always be 10 piece wingettes with fries. Can't forget the Arnold palmer. After hearing my son rave about how great the chicken was, I had to try some for myself. I was in the area due to a doctor appointment and aftewards walked into Dixie Fried Chicken. I was greeted by the nicest woman and she took my order. I got a four piece with two sides and a large banana pudding which can only be described as "heavenly". The chicken was super tasty and the homemade macaroni salad was delicious. What a great find. If your in the area, I highly recommend a trip inside and place an order you wont forget. Couldn't order in advance, but the order was taken and our fresh box of chicken tasted amazing!

Fabulous. Do NOT let appearances deceive you. It might not look like much, but this place is off the hook. The people that work there are so friendly. We were passing through on our drive from the Naples to Boynton Beach while on vacation from California. We yelped a place to eat and being lovers of fried chicken, we decided to stop in. We are so happy we did. The chicken was prepared perfectly. The outside was crisp and the chicken was perfectly moist. Have the Coleslaw. It was creamy and flavorful. Same goes for the potato salad. As they say, "winner winner, chicken dinner"!!!! A must try. read more

Really good fried chicken. While in the Belle Glade area for work, my colleague and I planned to stop in. For about $6 we enjoyed 2 pcs of chicken, fries and a drink. I opted for the Arnold Palmer: lemonade and sweet tea and it was quite sweet. The chicken was the right amount of crispy on the outside while still being moist on the inside. Not overly salty and definitely filling in combination with the fries and coleslaw! read more

The best fried chicken in South Florida. Hands down. You've probably never been to Belle Glade, but that's okay. Either make a trip out there for some chicken or stop by the next time you're crossing the state. Dixie Fried has been around for as long as I can remember. This is excellent fried chicken- very crisp exterior and juicy interior. The Cole slaw had some pickle in it, which was a nice touch. A huge amount of french fries but didn't touch them- it was all about the bird. Very pleasant service (thank you, Miss Trinity!), and quick. All the other diners looked equally satisfied- and they used a cardboard box, NOT styrofoam. I would have given them points for that alone, but it is already 5 star chicken. read more
