I've been going to Aanana on and off since they opened several years ago…read more The staff are always polite and friendly, and the prices reasonable. I've had facials, as well as waxing, threading, and eyelash/eyebrow tinting. I went in today for an upper lip thread and eyelash tint. Some wires were crossed and the technician thought I wanted my eyebrows threaded as well. Since they probably needed it, to be honest, I had it all done. I was in and out in 20 minutes, and spent the princely sum of £19. My eyebrows and upper lip were done super fast, and from what I can tell, were done well. I had a new person today, someone who's only been there a few weeks. I hope she stays! They do tend to have a fairly high turnover of staff. My eyelashes are fine, but it is a bit messy. The bit of skin transfer though will be mostly gone after I shower and cleanse my face tonight, so I'm not worried. It's just worth pointing out as if you were hoping to go out right afterwards, you might find you're a bit raccoon-eyed. I called today at 2pm, and was able to get an appointment at 5pm, so I can't really complain! I did have to leave a message and get called back, as they don't have a receptionist who sits at the desk all the time, but that's okay. Aanana aren't going to change your world, but they will make you look a little more polished!

I've been to this beauty salon a number of times and I really don't know why I've gone back…read more Their health and safety is terrible. Every time I've gone for a wax the therapist has never worn gloves. I had my eyebrows done and the girl hadn't even washed her hands because they stank of marmite and it even made my skin smell of marmite after the treatment which was repulsive. I swore I would never go back, but my current beauty therapist had to cancel on me before my holiday, which meant I needed to book a bikini wax with someone else. I strictly wanted sugaring waxing because of my sensitive skin and Tan & Beauty are the only other salon I know of who offer this. When I called I strictly stated sugaring waxing. When I went in for the treatment I confirmed I was having a sugar wax. The girl started the wax and actually used hot wax, which is a completely different treatment. She clearly thought I didn't know the difference, however I have an NVQ Level 2 in beauty therapy. To add insult to injury she tested it on her wrist, said it was far too hot, then only waited a matter of seconds before testing on my skin. It was far too hot, burned me, and then she waited only another minute before testing on me again. It was again far too hot. As she took the wax off it ripped my skin and I started bleeding (as I said before she wasn't wearing gloves so she could have caused an infection or passed anything she was carrying to me). As a result I asked her to switch to the regular wax. She did a bad job and left quite a few hairs. To her credit she did ask if it was OK, but I was so traumatised by the experience I didn't want her to continue. To make matters worse I have now been left with 3 ingrown hairs, despite exfoliating. I have also gone in for a spray tan and was not asked when booking if I'd had a spray tan before and therefore was not told to avoid moisturising, so I was left with a blotchy tan and then told off by the manager (who did the tan) for wearing moisturiser and causing the blotchy tan! Not a great look on holiday! Please do yourself a favour and avoid, avoid, avoid!!

My experience with Create Your Beauty was very ugly. Last…read moremonth I attended an electrolyses session from a course of 6 treatments with Hayley, and although she was a very nice girl I was very disappointed that she missed some hairs on an already treated follicle. That meant more sessions and spending more money to treat follicles which was supposed to be treated the first time. Therefore, I asked for another therapist to take her place and asked to see the salons accreditation for the electrolyses treatments that they were offering. I received an email from the manager, Colin Solomon in which he explained to me that they are spending thousands upon thousands on paying for professional training for their therapists and that he doesn't see the need of special electrolyses accreditation. Now, the thing with electrolyses is that if the therapist hasn't have enough experience and the right training for this type of treatment, to know how to insert the needle into the right angle, there maybe be danger of infection, scarring or bruising (done by a bad insertion into the follicle causing a blood vessel to be broken) thing that happened to me after i asked to be treated by another therapist called Sarah working at their salon. After the penultimate session of electrolyses I saw the bruise on my right underarm, and I sent them an email with a picture for proof and asked for a refund on my last two sessions. Two days had past and I hadn't received any reply back. After two days of waiting I called to the salon and spoke with an employee that told me my situation is under review as has been escalated to the manager.I told them that this is not the way they should treat their clients and that if they don't give a resolution till the end of the week I will escalate the complain to the ombudsman and any other authority that deals with this kind of issues. I am now waiting for their reply, but I will urge everyone who is thinking to start electrolyses treatments to avoid Create Your Beauty as they don't have accreditation specifically on these type of hair removal method. I would urge people to look for accredited electrologists trained only in this method of permanent hair removal, as there is danger of loosing your money, time and scaring your area of treatment (whatever that is) for life.

I cannot speak highly enough of Create Your Beauty- Jo and Colin were incredibly welcoming, right…read morefrom the start. Whilst I was getting set up for my massage, Jo was kind enough to show me their floatation room and tell me more about the experience. It looks fantastic, and much large than I imagined- certainly one for next time! I was taken through to the treatment room and it is clear that they have really spent time finishing the salon to a high standard, considering the small details to make the experience as special as possible. A small flower on the massage table, large warm fluffy towels and a basket for your clothes and belongings. Colin made sure that I was comfortable, asked if I wanted to concentrate on any areas and started my deep tissue massage. It. Was. Incredible. I had initially booked the massage as a treat after a long week as I suffer from neck and back ache from sitting poorly at a desk all day. However, he manage to find and attend to knots and pressure points all over my body that I didn't even realise I had! An absolutely fantastic massage, with just the right amount of pressure. Next came an unexpected treat as I was asked if I'd like to use their sauna. I was unprepared for this little complimentary extra, but I needn't have worried as they provided me with a towel sarong, another huge fluffy towel and showed me through to the sauna room. After a relaxing sauna in the private room I headed for a shower with their sumptuous shower products. I would really recommend taking advantage of this extra benefit to extend the relaxation of your trip, made me feel like I was having a little spa day! All in all a fantastic experience that offered incredible value, highly recommended!
