Bouquet Boutique is my hands down favourite florist in Brisbane…read more (and makes for a super fun tongue twister to boot!) Although seen as an expensive practice to some, I love it when my house is brimming with blooms. ...And being perfect as a gift or a pick me up I can recommend no other place for those flowery fancies than this little New Farm store. In my mind a good quality bouquet is one that lasts a decent amount of time and doesn't flake out and die on you the morning after purchase. (I'M LOOKING AT YOU SUSPICIOUS BEGONIAS FROM COLES.) ...I can happily say that some of these fresh bouquets have spent a merry week or more at home without looking to bedraggled or woebegone. As well as boasting a modern and unique perspective on floral arrangements, they also offer cool services like bringing in your own vases for custom bouquets and can build an arrangement based on your individual tastes. Located very handily on the corner of Brunswick & Merthyr, Bouquet boutique is well worth a gander when in New Farm.

I ran in and ran out with the most gorgeous blood red lily's in the whole entire world. Okay, not world, maybe Brisbane because I haven't seen them anywhere else. Lily's were her favourite flower and red meant good luck in chinese! Yay great combination. Geraldine the owner smacked the bunch together for me so quick, so professionally and so effortlessly you can tell she was a pro. I am so thankful for her accomodating me, not wanting a pre-prepared bunch either. And yes, some were only half open but these suckers lasted a few weeks. Great little florist in New Farm. Saved me many times!

Even though I go past this florist almost every day, I've only ever been inside once (Mothers day…read moreemergency!). I bought a lovely bouquet to be delivered to my mother's house and the staff were friendly, helpful, and let me pick the kinds of colours and flowers I wanted in the bouquet. They don't have an enormous variety, but the flowers they do have are always fresh and healthy. Daisy Days also sells a few little gifts like teddy bears, pot plants, and knick-knacks. I know flowers in general aren't cheap, but I have to say that I found the prices here to be a little steep (ooh that rhymes!), but for a one-off splurge it's fine. They have a sign out the front that has always creeped the hell out of me. It's a lady with a sunflower over her mouth. I've always found sunflowers a bit off-putting (I think it's that coarse, brown centre they have) and superimposing one over a woman's smiling face so that it looks like the middle of the flower is her mouth making an :o expression freaks me out. Apart from the devil sunflower woman sign, Daisy Days is always a pleasure to walk past because they change their window displays often (especially for occasions like christmas, easter, valentine's day, mother's day, father's day etc.) and they're always really pretty and original. If you can cope with devil sunflower lady and prices that aren't as low as they could be, Daisy Days is a lovely little shop in which to buy a bouquet for someone special.

We used Daisy Days for our wedding and it was the worst decision we have ever made. The staff…read morehanded us magazines that you can buy anywhere instead of showing us other weddings or bouquets they have done. After our appointment we waited a week for our quote and they had gotten every single detail of our instructions wrong. When I contacted them to inform them they were wrong, they then called me to ask me what I had already told them in writing. We thought then that the quote was all good and we had nothing more to discuss. The afternoon of the DAY BEFORE my wedding I get a call and my now husband answered and was told our flowers were good to go but wanted to discuss some things with me. When I spoke to them we found that wasn't the case at all. They were calling to find out what flowers we wanted! The day before our wedding! How unprofessional and incompetent is that. When I informed the director that I was busy she kept insisting we go over the flowers again over the phone, so I informed her that we'd been over this 3 or so times and that i would call her back as I was busy she kept on at me so I hung up on her. My father had to go down there and sort things out. So I will not be recommending this place to anybody.

There's no way you could miss Flowertrap despite it occupying a small corner of James St Market…read more The smell of fresh flowers will hit you before you see the cascade of lilies- fresh as white linen, perfect bulbs of purple freesias, and elegant long stem roses in a variety of colours, all propped up in tin buckets. It came as no surprise when I found out Flowertrap catered for a variety of Brisbane events such as the Black and White at GOMA and the Brisbane Queer Film Festival at the Powerhouse. I could tell from their arrangement of bouquets in the shop as well as their knowledge which they generously share, that the florist was a skilled artisan. If you want something a little different than a bouquet, Flowertrap also offers plants, gifts and hampers filled with goodies across the James St Market range.

Love Flowertrap with all my heart…read more It is the ultimate place to get a stylish, impressive flower arrangement without spending enough money to justify selling an organ. They do little posies from $25 which are super helpful if you are buying for multiple people - I often have to buy several bouquets for friends who are in shows, and I appreciate not having to break the bank in order to do so. Their more elaborate arrangements average between $60 and $100 but they're not the kind of florists who charge you that amount for very few blooms - the bouquets are always generous and luxurious. Flowertrap are also fantastic for grabbing a casual bunch of spray roses when you pop into James St Market to pick up some gourmet delicacies (usually around the $20 mark) and they also have a great, user-friendly website which I have utilised many times with affordable delivery options and really fabulous range of bouquets. Universally, their bouquets have been extremely well received. I could not recommend Flowertrap more - absolutely fabulous. And they also have cute and quirky gift cards, which always make me stop for a look. I would imagine they would be fantastic for weddings, for a bride who wants something a little different and can afford to use a boutique florist.
