When I arrived to view the flowers before they were sent I was very disappointed that the style was not appropriate for the recipient and not what I had imagined at all. I guess this was due to semantics and communication, expectations and assumptions. I was impressed that the girls in this florist (including Phoebe) didn't try to convince me that this bunch was in fact appropriate. Instead, after some apologies for crossed-wires about expectations they sprung into action to create a new bunch very much different from the first. They did well to stay patient and attentive despite me being a very contrary customer. I guess it pays dividends to bow to customers wants and needs because - well - here I am now singing their praises. I'm sure many florists would have railroaded me into accepting the first bunch or tried to alter it slightly. I was very pleased they wiped the slate clean and started again.

Having been disappointed by my usual florist the last two times I decided to take a chance on someone new. As I needed two bunches of flowers for my uncle's funeral (one for the casket and one for my aunt), I wanted something very beautiful. I called up and Kristy was more than happy to help me. Not having a clue about flowers, she was able to guide me expertly as I haphazardly try to describe what I wanted. When I went to pick up the flowers the next day, they were all I could hope for and more. The sheath for the casket was a stunning arrangement of white flowers - lillies and roses mostly - and were beautiful. The bunch for my much loved aunt was stunning and beautiful as well. The florist stayed with the 'white' theme that my late uncle wanted but the bunch had a lovely pop of colour - just enough sprinkled through the bouquet. The prices were very reasonable and I was surprised at the size of the sheath and bouquet for what I paid - they were both huge! I cannot recommend Flowers in the Field highly enough ... and yes, they are my new florist.

Geraldine the owner smacked the bunch together for me so quick, so professionally and so effortlessly you can tell she was a pro. I bought a lovely bouquet to be delivered to my mother's house and the staff were friendly, helpful, and let me pick the kinds of colours and flowers I wanted in the bouquet. They don't have an enormous variety, but the flowers they do have are always fresh and healthy. Daisy Days also sells a few little gifts like teddy bears, pot plants, and knick-knacks. I know flowers in general aren't cheap, but I have to say that I found the prices here to be a little steep (ooh that rhymes!), but for a one-off splurge it's fine. They have a sign out the front that has always creeped the hell out of me. It's a lady with a sunflower over her mouth. I've always found sunflowers a bit off-putting (I think it's that coarse, brown centre they have) and superimposing one over a woman's smiling face so that it looks like the middle of the flower is her mouth making an :o expression freaks me out. Apart from the devil sunflower woman sign, Daisy Days is always a pleasure to walk past because they change their window displays often (especially for occasions like christmas, easter, valentine's day, mother's day, father's day etc.) and they're always really pretty and original. If you can cope with devil sunflower lady and prices that aren't as low as they could be, Daisy Days is a lovely little shop in which to buy a bouquet for someone special.

The afternoon of the DAY BEFORE my wedding I get a call and my now husband answered and was told our flowers were good to go but wanted to discuss some things with me. When I spoke to them we found that wasn't the case at all. They were calling to find out what flowers we wanted! The day before our wedding! How unprofessional and incompetent is that. When I informed the director that I was busy she kept insisting we go over the flowers again over the phone, so I informed her that we'd been over this 3 or so times and that i would call her back as I was busy she kept on at me so I hung up on her. My father had to go down there and sort things out. So I will not be recommending this place to anybody.

I'd been wanting to order from Alba for some time and this gave me just the right excuse. Despite being overseas, I was able to seamlessly place an order with Alba via their online ordering system. Within 12 hours the flowers were in the recipients hands. At Alba Roses, not only can you indulge in having beautifully arranged flowers delivered or picked up in store but you can also pair them with a sweet trinket or card (they have a range of Rifle & Co cards for example). The florists at Alba aren't into daggy bouquets filled with baby's breath. Although I'm sure if that's what you wanted they would oblige. Ashleigh and her team are professionals. They're as comfortable with the 'just because' bouquet as they are with something grander - a wedding for example. This bouquet wasn't the grandest but she still ensured it was unique and individual. I had mentioned the recipients favourite blooms and she ensured some of these were included in the bouquet. I've been looking for a go-to florist and I'm pretty sure Alba just earned the title.

It came as no surprise when I found out Flowertrap catered for a variety of Brisbane events such as the Black and White at GOMA and the Brisbane Queer Film Festival at the Powerhouse. I could tell from their arrangement of bouquets in the shop as well as their knowledge which they generously share, that the florist was a skilled artisan. If you want something a little different than a bouquet, Flowertrap also offers plants, gifts and hampers filled with goodies across the James St Market range.

They do little posies from $25 which are super helpful if you are buying for multiple people - I often have to buy several bouquets for friends who are in shows, and I appreciate not having to break the bank in order to do so. Their more elaborate arrangements average between $60 and $100 but they're not the kind of florists who charge you that amount for very few blooms - the bouquets are always generous and luxurious. Flowertrap are also fantastic for grabbing a casual bunch of spray roses when you pop into James St Market to pick up some gourmet delicacies (usually around the $20 mark) and they also have a great, user-friendly website which I have utilised many times with affordable delivery options and really fabulous range of bouquets. Universally, their bouquets have been extremely well received. I could not recommend Flowertrap more - absolutely fabulous. And they also have cute and quirky gift cards, which always make me stop for a look. I would imagine they would be fantastic for weddings, for a bride who wants something a little different and can afford to use a boutique florist.
