Open since the 1920's, this shop makes for an ideal neighbor with a vast selection of gourmet chocolates, in particular, a treasure trove of truffles. However, it was pretty balmy that day. Consequently Jamie W and I were particularly drawn to the gelato choices. Since we had dinner plans, the MX$70 one-scoop cups suited us just fine as sweet appetizers. Jamie picked the Hazelnut (Photo 10), while I went for the Rum Truffle (Photo 9). Both provided brief respites of creamy delight. The gelato provides a worthy extension to their chocolate offering in a fine cafe setting. This place is simply remarkable. Beautiful setting, with handmade chocolates from a family that has…read morebeen perfecting their art -- and craft -- for over a century. And I was blown away by how reasonable the prices are. On top of all this, they made me the best latte I've had in Mexico and their baked goods were fantastic. One of the brothers who owns the shop also makes handmade ice cream. Just another reason to go back!
