Boy, were The Fates in my corner that day! She turned out to be The BEST! Her specialty is listed as Family Medicine, but the scope of her medical knowledge, expertise and caring go far beyond those two simple words. A Family Physician practices Family Medicine, which is a medical specialty that provides continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family across all ages, sexes, diseases, and parts of the body. That requires an enormous amount of knowledge and she is a brilliant physician and diagnostician, who also has the kindest personality through which she provides compassionate caring for her patients. I consider myself very lucky and fortunate to be one of them! And, I may add, that all of her referrals to specialists for me, and there have been many, have all been in the same stellar category that she calls home. The staff is warm and welcoming, the doctors talk with me like I'm a human being.... I've always been super nervous about doctor visits until I began coming to Southwest Medical. They make me feel like I'm in the right place with the right people. Only thing I would suggest for improvement is doing specialist referrals with a bit more efficiency. I was treated as if I wasn't a human being and believe the machine wasn't even hooked up properly. I found out later my wrist heart rate monitor should've been removed for the EKG and they never even said anything about that. Had an appointment with a doctor, but a nurse came in and told me she was the doctor. Then she tried to convince me that my EKG results had a concern but not to worry they had an in-house cardiologist. She also had trouble reading the documents I had arrived with which was the reason the appointment was made in the first place. She spoke no English and we had a very hard time communicating. I kept asking for the doctor since I had made an appointment with a Dr. Felix Labrador. She insisted that she was a doctor and she will be taking care of me. I confirmed on the way out that she is not a doctor but a nurse. Then she tried to tell me I had to make separate appointments for the lab work. Started to getting the ick and it felt like it was all about just getting more reasons to bill me. Everything felt off so all I wanted to do was get out. Told her I would reschedule for later and come back. This was a lie. I was very uncomfortable. And on my way out another man now in English fighting at the front desk also about billing. This place is extremely unprofessional, and very likely unethical practices are occurring.
