Plus, she only charges me about $20 to cut my hair, which is a steal compared to the standard $40+ I've always paid my entire life in larger cities. ($20 for a cut and style, no drying...curls prefer to be left alone!) As you can see from the photo I uploaded, I have very curly hair. Kelly can handle cutting curly hair just fine, though she usually doesn't put in enough hair product so that your curls hold together for the day. Nevertheless, you'll love your haircut once you're home and can style your curls the way you like. I know this may sound strange to straight haired girls ("uh, what? you mean you FIX your hair right after you've just been to a salon?"), but for us curlies, it's rare NOT to leave a hair salon looking like we had a nasty scuffle with a blow dryer. Anyway, I digress...If you are a curly girl, Kelly will give you a very good cut for a great price. Then she did her magic and we are so pleased!! As far as covid precautions, this salon is taking things very seriously. They keep the number of people in the space way down, everyone wears masks, and you can tell they care a lot about cleaning and thoroughness. The salon is spotless! Overall terrible experience. This was an older man playing beauty parlor who didn't know what the…read moreheck he was doing. First when he did the buzzed part of my hair, he did that wet which made it difficult to do and made the hair stick everywhere even worse (and he missed parts which I had to fix with the buzzer at home). He dug the cutters into my head painfully, after I told him I had a sensitive scalp. He then also dug the comb in my head and pulled hard on large chunks of hair to cut them instead of sectioning my hair in lines or smaller areas to ensure greater accuracy. He cut an 'M' shape on my back hairline without even asking me. Also repeatedly asked me to remind him what I wanted cut-wise like he couldn't keep the thought in his head. And the greatest sin, in my opinion, is the fact that I have coarse textured hair and he used a razor on it, which you don't do! On coarse hair it just makes the hair end split and fluff. As soon as he started using it I told him to not use it on the front at all and he got huffy with me and said he wasn't going to. The whole thing was awful, it wasn't comfortable at all and at no time did he make me feel like he actually knew what he was doing. He charged me $41 for this hack haircut that I'm going to have to pay someone else to fix. I should have listened to my gut and stopped it at the first wrong thing, but I really needed a cut and was hoping that I was wrong and wanted to give this local business the benefit of the doubt. But I wish I hadn't because going to this place was a mistake and I absolutely would warn others away.
