I am assuming there is more of a lively atmosphere when dining here on a Thur-Sat but I cannot say for sure. Our waiter did not speak much english but he was very kind and patient with us. I had the bolognese pasta with a side of grilled vegetables and my husband got the traditional golden tortellini. At this point on our trip I had ordered bolognese many many times, and this was far and away the best one! All of the dishes we ordered were delicious with the exception of the mushroom pasta that my friend ordered. It tasted more like an asian stir fry dish and was truly bizarre. Beyond that one mis-step we loved everything and would highly recommend this restaurant if you find yourself in Bologna.

The restaurant has been in business since 1834 and it shows! Impeccable decor, tasteful furnishings, waiters in tuxedos, and real china, crystal, linen and silverware. All things Bolognese are featured on the menu and is complimented by a wine list that is mind boggling to say the least. Make it a point to ask for seating in the downstairs wine cellar when making a reservation for a truly unique dining memory. This all comes at a price of $75-100 Euros per person and it is worth every single cent!

My wife had the lasagne for her entree, I had seafood. My wife said her lasagne was different from the last place she had it a couple days earlier in Bologna, but no less spectacular. They didn't have any tables outside so we were seated inside. Service (3.5/5): No WiFi unfortunately which isn't great for an international traveler like me. Standard European service. Not terribly friendly and not terribly efficient but I would say they were a bit more attentive than the norm. They did hook us up with some complimentary limoncello shots which was a really nice touch. Ambiance (3.5/5): A little quieter since it's off the beaten path which I like. A pleasant, homey restaurant. Drinks (4.5/5): We shared a bottle of wine. And the aforementioned limoncello shots. Food (4/5): We went with their pasta for two deal where each person gets three different types of pasta that you choose from six or so options. I love getting a variety of dishes so this was a nice way to do it. Not huge portions given the price but still delicious. The dishes were served to us quickly and we got to try some pastas we had never heard of. Overall: When in Bologna, Osteria Broccaindosso makes for a fine choice. It's a 15-minute walk or so from the center of town.
