my son attended this daycare for 7 months. during these 7 months he picked up the habit of biting, while also getting bit by other children often. I am understanding, that at his age of being under two, biting is appropriate for his age. The daycare, however, is not understanding of this. The daycare was unwilling to make any adjustments to try and stop or prevent the behavior. I asked for him to change classrooms in hope of a change in environment would help. They would not. I asked for his teacher to be more attentive interactive with him so she could intervene, but the director stated "She has other children to watch.". My son is not a behavioral child. he is not defiant, and is very smart and is able to communicate. When he had his "6th" bite, we were asked to come pick him up, when my husband arrived, he was handed all his belongings with no explanation that he was being dismissed from the center. unless your child is basically a robot, then I would not recommend this place. read more

My husband and I moved to Jonesboro, AR in May of 2018. After this move we required childcare for our 4 year old son. After touring 3 different childcare facilities ranging from areas throughout Valley View and Jonesboro we were left amazed at how clean, structured and attentive Discovery Island was. Upon touring the facility we immediately filled out an application for our son to attend. Since attending from June-December he can already count to 50 unassisted, name all his letters, spell multiple words and write his full name. His class teachers provide a full detailed daily report of his behavior, naps, and food consumption. It's my observation that the teachers in each classroom and building love what they do and follow strict guidelines to ensure our children's safety. I can see the teachers counting each little head in line to verify no one is left behind. If you have the opportunity to enroll your child here, DO IT! The cost of a good education and teachers who make your child their #1 priority is priceless. Budget your money elsewhere because this childcare facility is completely worth the tuition. I can happily say my son will be starting pre-k and kindergarten without any difficulty because of the attention and education he's received from Discovery Island. read more

My daughter has attended there for the last two years. We started attending there after having been at another local daycare prior. It was a world of difference. This is without a doubt the best daycare/preschool I have ever seen. Very clean. Staff is very caring and competent. Curriculm is well structured. I highly recommend. read more

My son went to DI and I was very impressed. It seemed just like a real school, it was very clean and the staff was very nice. They even put on a little dance for the kids at the end of the year and held a graduation at the Fowler Center at ASU. It is a little pricey but all of these day cares/preschools ect are. If you are looking for a place for your kid, you should at least check out DI, I think you will be impressed. read more

I had a horrible experience with Discovery Island. If your child is advanced for their age, it might be an ok center for you. However, for the other 90% of us with typical kids, it is not. My child was very stressed out by this center. Some of the workers that have been there for a while are great. However, they hire immature little college girls that have never been around kids. These girls don't stay long and have no patience with the kids. The worker in my child's room was very harsh and yelled at the kids. My child is not prone to diaper rash, but she stayed broken out while the college girl was supposed to be taking care of her. If you decide to try this center, I would strongly suggest that you interview the worker one on one before you leave your kid there. Ask about her experience with children and questions about her ideas on child development and discipline. Also, give her a few scenarios that happen often with your kid and ask how she would handle them. I really wish I would have insisted on interviewing the child care worker and any new workers before they began caring for my child. I would have not put my kid through the stress and mean treatment that she suffered if I would have had the foresight to do this. read more
