I am understanding, that at his age of being under two, biting is appropriate for his age. The daycare, however, is not understanding of this. The daycare was unwilling to make any adjustments to try and stop or prevent the behavior. I asked for him to change classrooms in hope of a change in environment would help. They would not. I asked for his teacher to be more attentive interactive with him so she could intervene, but the director stated "She has other children to watch.". My son is not a behavioral child. he is not defiant, and is very smart and is able to communicate. When he had his "6th" bite, we were asked to come pick him up, when my husband arrived, he was handed all his belongings with no explanation that he was being dismissed from the center. unless your child is basically a robot, then I would not recommend this place.

After touring 3 different childcare facilities ranging from areas throughout Valley View and Jonesboro we were left amazed at how clean, structured and attentive Discovery Island was. Upon touring the facility we immediately filled out an application for our son to attend. Since attending from June-December he can already count to 50 unassisted, name all his letters, spell multiple words and write his full name. His class teachers provide a full detailed daily report of his behavior, naps, and food consumption. It's my observation that the teachers in each classroom and building love what they do and follow strict guidelines to ensure our children's safety. I can see the teachers counting each little head in line to verify no one is left behind. If you have the opportunity to enroll your child here, DO IT! The cost of a good education and teachers who make your child their #1 priority is priceless. Budget your money elsewhere because this childcare facility is completely worth the tuition. I can happily say my son will be starting pre-k and kindergarten without any difficulty because of the attention and education he's received from Discovery Island.
