I plotted out where I wanted to go to Mass ahead of time. Luckily my sister and brother-in-law (who are not Catholic) ensured we got to our halfway point of Sioux Falls on Saturday evening so that I could attend the Vigil Mass. I figured this was a busy parish when I saw that they had two Vigil Masses (4p and 6p). Even during our current COVID climate, I've only seen Vigil Masses get cut, not added! I went to the 6p Mass and the priest told us that over 350 people had attended the 4p Mass. Wow! I could tell as I prayed prior to Mass that this parish is on fire for Christ. There are so many families attending Mass together, so many different faith formation groups. It was so amazing to see. The homily was given by a priest who is visiting for the next year. His name is Fr Mark McGregor. His voice was so calming and peaceful. I loved listening to his homily as he introduced himself to the parish and told his story. I even told him after Mass that I had driven from Ohio and that his homily was the highlight of my day. I told him we were driving to Yellowstone and he blessed me. So awesome! This parish is going to do amazing things. I pray that there are many more parishes like this. So blessed to have gone to this one during my short overnight stay in Sioux Falls.
