I have been coming to this mall for 15+ years, and I have definitely seen it grow from what it used to be. It tends to be the most busiest on the weekends, so keep that in mind. Most of the stores are also closed on Monday as well, so just be aware of that. The mall has a massive parking lot attached too, so you'll be able to find parking. There is a food court as well that has 5 different restaurants you can choose from, and then there is another restaurant downstairs where you can have lunch/dinner. As you would probably guess, the food court options are all Indian as well as the restaurant downstairs. I definitely recommend visiting Global Mall if you ever find yourself wanting to be transported to India without having to take that long flight. The mall is located in Norcross, right off the Jimmy Carter exit.

It's one of the best plazas in Atlanta. You could spend weeks here, eating at a different place for lunch and dinner every day, and never eat at the same place twice. Every major city should have plazas like this. Atlanta is very fortunate to have the Asian Square.

Asian Square is an old Asian shopping center located on Buford Highway between Chamblee Tucker Rd…read more and I-285 in Doraville. My earliest memories of Asian Square are from Fall 2000, when I first moved to Atlanta. Back then (actually, since 1993), and up until circa 2010, Asian Square was home to a 99 Ranch Market, a popular Chinese supermarket chain from California. Times changed and bigger, newer Asian grocery stores opened in nicer, cleaner shopping complexes up north (e.g. Super H Mart, GreatWall, Assi), forcing 99 Ranch to close its only Georgia location. Asian Square was also home to restaurants such as Pho Hoa (Vietnamese noodle soup), Asiana Garden (Korean BBQ), a Thai restaurant, Fil-Am Star (one of metro Atlanta's only Filipino restaurants), and Hello Dau Hu (a Vietnamese snack shop which has since been absorbed into fellow Buford Highway competitor Viet Tofu ~Spring 2014). Those were just a handful of businesses that closed at Asian Square over approximately the past 15 years. These days, the main draws at Asian Square are undoubtedly Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe (Asian pastries and bubble tea), Quoc Huong (Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches and pho), and, to a lesser extent, Ming's BBQ and BBQ Corner (Chinese, Cantonese food). Sweet Hut opened in April 2012 and became wildly successful. It brought people flocking back to Asian Square... Well, one tiny corner of it. Mamak, a Malaysian restaurant, opened September 2014 in the former Fil-Am space. Quoc Huong is considered by many to have the best banh mi sandwiches in Atlanta. I can't say I disagree. They are pretty darn good. Ming's BBQ has been around forever. Honestly, I'm surprised it's still around. Ming's is hidden towards the back of the shopping center, near the Shallowford Rd. entrance/exit. Ming's boasts quick and authentic plates of Cantonese-style street food, complete with fresh roasted pork on display and roasted duck hanging behind the storefront window. Ming's has a second, bigger, much newer location off of Pleasant Hill Rd. in Duluth (Gwinnett County). I ate at BBQ Corner several times in the early-to-mid 2000s. They served satisfying Chinese food and had dim sum service at one point too. In late 2013/early 2014, the restaurant temporarily closed and underwent a major renovation. As of 2014, BBQ Corner is back with a new storefront, a new dining room, and a new attitude. The four aforementioned restaurants presumably make up the bulk of Asian Square customer traffic today. Currently, I believe there are no more Korean-owned businesses at Asian Square. I think all of the businesses are owned or operated by either Chinese or Vietnamese people. King Maxim Nail Supply opened in a substantial space (I think part of the old 99 Ranch Market) in 2014. There are a lot of nail salon supply stores along Buford Highway and King Maxim adds another to the mix. Victoria Nail Supply is a smaller shop, also located at Asian Square. Other businesses include Bride & Fashion II (dresses), Kim Ngoc Jewelry, Eye Best / La Mejor Vision (optometrist's office and eyeglass frames store), Jimmy's Fine Jewelry, Vietnamese coffee shop Duy Long, Hair Capital (hair salon), The Gioi Am Nhac (Vietnamese video/music store I believe), Le Salon (another salon), ABF Travel (Chinese travel agency), Victoria Cosmetics, a dentist's office, a pediatric clinic, Asian herbal medicine shops, and more. Asian Square, as a functional shopping center, is simply outdated. It's not the cleanest shopping center nor is it modern or aesthetically pleasing. The storefronts and store spaces are worn and parking is a real issue here. The driveways are tight and the speed bumps are annoying, but necessary. It's been years and the void left by 99 Ranch's closure has yet to be filled. I heard from an Asian Square business owner that parking was one of the biggest challenges in trying to secure a tenant for that space. It makes sense when you look at other Asian shopping centers around town (and you don't have to look far). In the end, I am a fan of Asian Square. I've got several memories here. The place has character and it's a recognized "landmark" of sorts for the Asian community in Atlanta, especially those who have lived here a long time. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for this place. (Sweet Hut definitely helped!)

The biggest surprise? They have the best Ross hands down. We all walked out with multiple bags, because the selection was so good. Just a heads up: the aisles are tight so be prepared for a lot of "excuse me's". I wouldn't consider this a mall. There wasn't much to buy. There's a souvenir shop, a secondhand clothing store and a food court. The secondhand clothing store was overpriced. The food court smelled like a toilet. My daughter and I walked in there to grab a bite but the stench redirected us to the car.

This event was a fantastic way to support the community while enjoying an evening of shopping, tasting, and discovering local businesses. More than 30 Black-owned small businesses showcased their products and services, offering everything from unique gifts and handmade items to delicious treats and lifestyle products. I found a few goodies for family and friends and, of course, a couple for myself too! The Black Wine & Spirits Festival added to the fun with tastings and a lively atmosphere. It was great meeting vendors, learning their stories, and supporting small businesses that are making a difference in the community. The venue on the 15th floor of the Towers at Uptown Atlanta provided beautiful views and plenty of space to browse. Overall, this was a well-organized event filled with positive energy, great shopping, and community spirit. Looking forward to attending again next year!

Timing tables our centered between the eateries and the shops, and are not cramped. TK is stocked with stuffed animals to snacks, sweets, skin care, refrigerated & frozen items, including the viral peach ice cream treats. We even tried some seaweed chips - definite pass on those. When we checked out, they rang up as $2.99 each. We didn't realize until we looked at the receipt afterward. I went back to let the cashier know, and she said the sale had actually ended the day before but the sign hadn't been taken down yet. She refunded us, but I thought it was a little strange that she didn't ask if we still wanted the snacks at the regular price since we'd already bought them. The second time, my mom finally decided to get a Hello Kitty thermal bottle she'd been eyeing since our first visit. It was marked $39.99, and we convinced her to get it because she really liked it. At checkout, it rang up as $49.99. We mentioned it to the cashier, who checked with the manager, and they said it had been labeled incorrectly and the correct price was $49.99...... I know mistakes can happen, but having the same thing happen on two different visits is kind of wild.. Other than that, they did have a nice variety of snacks, trinkets, stuffies and makeup.

Over more than a decade now, it's weathered the openings of numerous bubble tea shops in the immediate vicinity, from big names like Sweet Hut and Kung Fu Tea, to lesser-known local shops that have come and gone, such as Boba Bee and Honey Bits. It's surviving the COVID-19 pandemic as well. It "just won't die." Good for them. I consider Quickly the anchor of Intown Plaza. After Quickly, what I know Intown Plaza best for is the late Tempo Doeloe Indonesian restaurant (opened June 2010): https://www.yelp.com/biz/java-and-tempo-doeloe-doraville. RIP. It was next door to Java Indonesian Foodmart. Today, Chinese noodle soup restaurant chain Dagu Rice Noodle occupies the two spaces formerly occupied by Tempo Doeloe and Java: https://www.yelp.com/biz/dagu-rice-noodle-doraville. Well, at least Tempo Doeloe was replaced by a good restaurant. Dagu opened in November 2020 and I believe is a worthy successor. Also at Intown are Beijing Kabobs and China Hot Pot. What's interesting about these two restaurants is they each underwent a name change. Beijing Kabobs used to be known as Te Wei Chinese Kabobs: https://www.yelp.com/biz/beijing-kabobs-doraville. Business seemed to be strong for years. However, 8 Fahrenheit closed in 2020. A direct casualty of the pandemic? I'm not sure. Meanwhile, the lights have continued to stay on at Quickly. Speaking of Quickly again, if I recall correctly, there was a women's fashion store next door. If facing Quickly's storefront, it was to the right. Finally, another restaurant I've been to at Intown Plaza is Salvadoran restaurant Pupuseria Mi Tierra. I rated Mi Tierra three stars on Yelp in 2017, A-OK: https://www.yelp.com/biz/pupuseria-mi-tierra-doraville. Some Yelpers and I ended up at Mi Tierra when we had initially tried to go to Spicy GaGa Duck for Buford Highway UYE #81 in July 2017: https://www.yelp.com/events/doraville-buford-highway-uye-spicy-gaga-duck. UYE stands for Unofficial Yelp Event. Other businesses at Intown Plaza include a Chinese karaoke bar, a Farmers Insurance office, a Chinese tax office, a nail salon, and a Hispanic market, bakery, and hair salon. I've touched on most everything this plaza contains, but certainly not everything. Intown Plaza is accessible from both Buford Highway (front entrance) and Shallowford Road (back entrance). It's generally clean and feels relatively quiet (now that 8 Fahrenheit is gone) and safe.

When you are Intown, you should come to Intown…read more It's a bit like Asian Square, in that it has all kinds of stuff. Restaurants from every corner of the globe (well, most of the corners), some karaoke, some crazy desserts, a bubble tea shop, and so much more. It's one of so many brilliant plazas along Buford Hwy, which has to be one of the most awesome shopping and eating roads in the whole country. There's a reason Buford Hwy is so famous in Atlanta for being the place to go for food and wild cultural experiences, and Intown is one of the jewels in this crown of Atlanta's multi-ethnicity and dining delights and hidden gems.
