My child attended for about two years and did learn a lot but we were notified of "immediate release of child care" a few weeks ago with no warning. There was an issue with a teacher that was reported to state. There was no open communication between the school and parents, everything was kept very hush hush. Parents started to talk and get together and a few of us that were communicating with each other got the notice that they would no longer be providing care for our children. I think the handling of the situation was very poor on the school's end. It felt like the school was more concerned with protecting themselves than the children. The website and initial site visit was impressive. We were excited about the art and music programs they advertised. In less than a year we pulled our children out. The classes were over populated, the teachers were young and had little hands on experience. We began to see behavior changes in our youngest child in their center. As soon as we pulled him out, his behavior improved almost over night. He loves his new school. My son attended Discover and Share from 8 weeks to 10 months. He always seemed to be the "odd one out" in the infant room. When he started, most of the kids were much older than him and when we left, most of the kids were much younger than him. 6 weeks to 1 year is just not an appropriate age group considering the wide variety of needs and developmental abilities that take place during the first year of life. While we were happy for a while, we started noticing some neglect. The excuse was always "he wouldn't take a nap", yet the second we left, before we even got out of the parking lot, he would crash and sleep until we woke him up the next morning. It is not normal for an infant to stay away for 10+ hours in a row. There were also a few occasions where he was placed on the other side of the room away by himself, unable to crawl or walk, while the caregivers sat on the other side of the room with their backs towards him with ALL of the other children next to him. When either of the Maria's weren't there, it was not good. Never any consistency as to who would be in the room in order to get to know your child. There were caregivers who placed him in bouncers incorrectly, which can cause problems to the hips. When we would bring up a concern, things would be fine for a few days and then it would start happening again. Ultimately, we left because the level of care declined greatly. He was ALWAYS sick from the time he started until we pulled him. In the 3 months he has been gone, he hasn't been sick at all. Says a lot about the cleanliness of a place. And yes, in those 3 months he has been in another childcare facility. There were some great financial perks.. teacher discount, not having to pay when I was out on break and kept him home... but cheaper definitely does not equal better. read more

A friend at church recommended Discover and Share for our first son when he was a baby. We have been very happy with our experience. We drive in from Grapevine to attend, now with two boys, a 2 year old who has been going since he was 14 weeks and a 3 month old currently in the infant room. The caregivers have all been experienced, kind, and patient. The boys are happy when they arrive to see their teachers and little friends. The caregivers use an app that gives us live updates on diaper changes, bottles, naps, etc. Management has been flexible with our schedules and open when we have questions or requests. My daughter has been attending Discover and Share for years now and I would recommend it to anyone around! The staff is always friendly, helpful and most of all very loving towards my daughter! She is so happy when we pull up and she will even ask to attend daycare on the weekends and days off! She is constantly singing new songs, talking about how fun her teacher is and excited to tell me about her day. My son also attends in during the summer time, he loves all the field trips they have to offer and is normally exhausted from all the fun they have! We signed our 3 yr old at the time at Discover And Share, he spent about a year there, the staff are nice, but he was sick a lot. Spent lots of dollars for doctor visits, medications, and time off!! Not sure what it is, but almost every other week he was feverish, runny nose, basically flu symptoms. what did it for us, was last sickness, he got foot and mouth disease from there. we pulled him out of there after that incident. My daughter is 1 and has been going to Discover and Share for only a few months. We previously attended a Primrose, and they never provided me as much comfort as D&S in the 6 months she went there. I LOVE the diversity at this school, my daughter will grow up learning all different cultures. Her previous school seemed to be a bunch of young snobby people. (some were the exception) It's also very comforting to know that the infant room teachers have been there for many years. Nothing says "Great Childcare" more than that! My daughter is also a big biter, I apologize to any and all parents whose child comes into contact with her. D&S always has a report ready to go when I pick her up. And they NEVER make me or her feel like horrible people. They are a very understanding group here. I can see that my daughter has developed mentally very quickly here. I have the entire facility to thank for this! Her room teachers aren't the only ones who know her, the entire school knows our baby girl. If you're looking for a preschool for your child/children... Discover and Share has been such an important resource to our family over the last 7 years. Child 3 is currently attending and children 1 and 2 are graduates and return for the afterschool and summer programs. Over the course of 7 yrs, we have several wonderful memories and experiences that I could share. To keep it (somewhat) short and sweet, here are the main ones that keep us coming back... 1) Visibility of children and staff. Until you get to know the great staff, you can gain peace of mind through the webcams available, video monitoring at the front desk, and the transparent design of the classrooms and building. 2) Great staff and low turnover. Having worked in the childcare field for many years, I've always been impressed with the quality of teachers that Discover and Share attracts and their commitment to their job. My children may or may not prefer their teachers to mom and dad often : ) A testament to the leadership of the owner and director. 3) Curriculum and Programming. The curriculum mirrors that of CISD, which made for a seamless transition for my two older children into Kindergarten. I am fanatic about hands-on learning, which DS does so well...starting at an early age! 4) Diversity. The staff and the students @ DS represent many different cultures, setting the foundation for a worldly view and appreciation of variety in our children. I have noticed that all the feedback provided on Discover & Share online has been old back when the owners/management was different. Currently, they have a different owner and management. My child has been going to Discover and Share for the past 10 months (started at age 4 months). At the beginning, it was great. They took very good care of my infant and always followed my instructions. Recently, I brought up some concerns regarding one of the teachers and how she was handling my child. I had heard that this particular teacher was best friends with the owner but my assumption was that the school would put the interest of the children ahead of personal relationships. I was wrong. A Couple of days after I discussed these issues with the director, and she promised that they will be resolved, the owner met with me and told me that I was spending too much time in that room and was distracting the teachers. Also, she would be running a background check on me and I have to look after my child while I was in the room instead of the teachers. It was very clear that she was offended by the fact that someone noticed things and pointed out negative things about her operation. I realized then that the time I spent in the room was never an issue until I brought up my concerns about that teacher....interesting! That proved two points to me, firstly, the school's priority was to protect the teachers (or that one particular teacher) and not the best interest of children and their parents. Secondly, what are they trying to hide?!?!?! I would expect that they would invite me to spend as much time as I needed in order to make sure the issues have been resolved. Instead, they wanted to hide their dirty laundry and they would rather lose a client than receive negative feedback. Also, none of the issues I brought up were resolved. On the contrary, they continued as if nothing happened. That made me feel extremely uncomfortable and I decided to take my child out of there as soon as possible. A few months ago, I would have totally recommended that school. Now, and after I saw where their priorities were and how they handled parents' feedback, I'm absolutely confident that they are not the best place for my child. I have searched the DFPS site and found that there were 11 reports logged against the school and that is pretty high. Enter the name of the school in the "Operation Name" and the zip code. My son is 3 and had been going to an in-home day care since he was 10 months old until just three months ago. The team at discover and share have helped make it a very smooth transition and my son really enjoys going to school there. Within a few days of him beginning there, it seemed that most of the staff (not just his teacher) knew his name and said "hi" every time he walked in the door. He was already a bright child before, but he has learned so much just in a few months. The teachers follow a specific schedule that begins with circle time every day and they share a daily activity sheet with you so you can participate in your child's development. I feel like the pricing is very fair and it seems like you can compare it apples to apples to other childcare facilities in the area. I know several people in coppell who take their children here now, and I'd recommend any parent to check it out for their child. read more
