Who knew?!?!? Not me!!!! So to be brought to this little mecca of cheaply priced items was sheer joy. Definitely worth the 45 minute drive, for me, to purchase household items, toys for the kiddies, clothing etc On this day, i believed we purchased something from every department in the store. From toy department I got a kitty-unicorn mask & a Rosa Parks Barbie doll. From the clothing department we got some work shirts, socks & men's underwear. From the shoe department we got 1 pair of tennis shoes & a pair of work shoes. From the health & beauty department we got some green food tablets for my water. From the hodgepodge construction/household DIY department we got some tools. From the sporting department we got a bike. For a moment, I wondered how these items are priced so cheaply and there are several answers: 1. Some are discontinued items & stores cant move them off the shelves 2. Some are slightly damaged & can't be sold for full price 3. Some stores just need a place to dump their surplus. Im sure there are other reasons, but those are the ones that are clear to me. No matter the reason, its a WIN-WIN for the consumer. One should make note of the condition of the items, because as I stated, some items are damaged & possibly not worth the price. Additionally, some of the items are over priced even for this place, so FYI. All in all, it seems like a cool place to pick up some things for the low-low. I bet this place is a mad house during the holiday season. I'll NEVER find out, but i can only imagine. read more

I've been a dirt cheap shopper for a long time and never had an issue until today. I went into the picayune store and was asked the leave because I had a "book bag". I certainly didn't have a book bag. I had a small purse that could only hold my credit card and lipstick(this is how small the purse is) that was on my back. This is not displayed anywhere in the store or anywhere else for customers to know that anything on you back is considered a book bag. You just have a security guard come up to you and say you have to leave. I'm a professional women and this was an embarrassment to have a security guard walk me to the door like I did something wrong. Then I tried to speak to the manger she was rude and said they can basically do what they want to do because they have a security guard. No wonder they are going out of business. I will not be coming back to this dirt cheap and giving them my money. read more

Hudson has deteriorated as being the place for great deals. Not that you can't get a few great deals You have to be careful. When they give you the discount off the price. Many of those prices are over inflated with their own stickers. You have to be ten times more careful today than ten years ago. It may not be illegal fraud but it isn't being honest either. You need to look up the real price it sells for. Just search the item on the internet. 40% off something marked up more than 40% will just mean you could have gotten it cheaper in a regular retail store. My family and I recently visited this store on Saturday. This is our second time coming to this store. The Manager Marcus and the cashier Tasha. They both were very nice and attentive to their customers needs. They need more employees like those two wonderful people. We don't live close so it was a very good experience. The rest of the staff was sweet as well. read more

I LOVE DIRT CHEAP! If you're on a tight budget, this is the place to go. How it works is a store burns down, or goes out of business or they just have merchandise they have to get rid of, Hudson's buys it and sells it. When it doesn't sell at Hudson's, it goes to Dirt Cheap. I got lots of cashmere sweaters here for $0.25 a piece and a silk dress for $7. Sometimes they will even get merchandise from stores like Macy's and Dillards. You do have to be ready to dig, as the stock changes quickly and things are just kind of "placed" somewhere. I needed Christmas presents for my niece, and this was the place to go! All the toys where 70% off for Christmas, so I was able to get her something bigger than what she usually gets. However, you do have to check if all the pieces are in the game or the toy that you're buying. Anyone can buy a shrink-wrap machine, take pieces out of a game/toy wrap it back up and return it. They have a new manager at this place, and all the clothing is sorted by price, not by type. I was looking for a pair of pants and found lingeré, sweaters, and pants all next to each other. It has become hard to find things, but if you know what youre looking for, you can find it. read more
