Our normal vet never has immediate availability, and it was really crucial that we got her in as soon as we could. After some quick research, I learned that Summer Street is typically great about getting cats in for emergency visits. I called Friday morning around 9 and they let me know they could see her at 11. When I got her there, they were genuinely concerned about her illness and they were so gentle and caring towards her. Dr. Ryndak was excellent in going over all of her findings with me -- including explaining the treatments they gave my cat and how to care for her going forward. Thankfully, my cat has bounced back and she's feeling much better because of the staff at Summer Street. She is officially an established patient here and I wouldn't want to take her anywhere else!

The waiting room is very nice with a koi pond. They had my cat's name up on a marker board saying 'welcome' which was a cute touch. The nurse (vet tech?) and the vet were very nice and the examination room had a bench for me to sit and some amusing light reading for cat and dog owners. They carefully examined Mechka (the cat) and found he had popped out his knee cap. The vet was luckily able to pop it right back in and was unable to pop it back out so it was set. They spent a lot of time doing the examination and making sure all of his little legs and feet were bending, stretching, and working correctly. I really appreciated the thoroughness. They did a thorough basic exam as well, updated Mechka on his rabies shot, and suggested some preventative treatments for kitty teeth and gave me a plan with prices and treatments outlined to let me know how much they would be. They also prescribed an anti-inflammatory for the leg swelling due to the knee injury and advice for administering it. Very pleasant experience. You can tell the staff really care and love their jobs. Highly recommended!

Do you think that that was the right thing to do to leave a woman crying profusely out of an animal clinic telling her that her dog will be blind the rest of its life or do you think it would have been more appropriate to say that could be the outcome but go see the specialist first? My experience was horrible. Dr. Rice misdiagnosed my dog not once, but twice. I brought my dog in…read morebecause he suddenly couldn't see well, was having accidents in the house, seemed to have back pain, and was circling the house looking confused. Instead of investigating further, it was written off as him simply getting older. He was given medication that actually made his symptoms worse. Concerned, I contacted another vet for a second opinion. It took them only moments to realize something was seriously wrong. From there we were referred to a neurologist, who confirmed that my dog has a brain tumor or another serious neurological condition. I truly believe that if the right steps had been taken earlier, my dog might have had a better chance at getting the help he needed. Instead, my 8-year-old dog has now been given only 3 to 6 months to live. Dr. Rice also seemed uncomfortable around my dog. He immediately had him wear a muzzle and came across as very standoffish. My dog has never shown any aggression toward him or anyone else at the clinic before. When Dr. Rice took my dog to the back to check his ears, I could hear my dog screaming. I have never heard him make a noise like that before, which was very concerning to me as his owner. It made me feel like they may not be comfortable handling medium or larger dogs, so I would advise others with similar-sized pets to be cautious. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere if you need a veterinarian who will thoroughly investigate serious symptoms. I recommend Creekview Veterinary Center or Green Acres Veterinary Center.
