I have to temper my review with the difficulty I had uploading documents online…read more I like the idea of uploading documents. In theory, it should make things easier and go more smoothly once in the office. Because it appeared the documents weren't uploading, we brought all of our paperwork, which the person at the front desk happily scanned for us. We did have an appointment, but still waited over 30 minutes beyond our scheduled time. It was a bit of a bummer. The person at the front desk kept us entertained while we waited, so that was a plus. She was very friendly. The person who did our taxes was amazing. She really knew her stuff and she was extremely pleasant and friendly. Not only did we get our taxes done, but we had a wonderful time. If this review was was just of the people working there, I'd give them five stars. In fact, in thinking about what a wonderful experience it was overall, I raised my review from a three to a four before posting.

I've been going here for the past 8 years, with the exception of last year (online tax filing)…read more However, this year I decided to bite the bullet and pay the fees and be stress-free by having H&R Block complete them for me. I was missing 2 forms for my appointment, which I contacted H&R in the morning and asked them to contact me via phone/email if anything else was needed and I would send them right over or drop them off. There was no communication back to me, so I followed up myself and the receptionist that she would have her (tax lady) call me back that same night. Clearly, this was not the case, as the phone call never came. The next day, I followed up again due to the lack of response. I was told yet, again, that they (H&R) would have her (tax lady) call me back. I finally received a phone call around 9pm stating 'there is another form I need.' Is this real life? I told them to let me know, trying to be proactive, if I was missing anything. To contact a person at 9pm and request for the form to be dropped off is absurd. After explaining to the manager about the lack of communication and follow up, I was offered $25 dollars off. I had a $20 coupon so they were only going to compensate me $5 for their poor customer service/lack of communication. This is laughable. I continually spoke to managers at H&R Block, for almost one hour, and did receive $100 off total. (They wouldn't accept my coupon so it was only $100 not $120). While I am appreciative of them taking some money off for the service, I will not be returning. The headache and time wasted with them, has proven to me, that it is better for me to do the taxes myself, than go here. I recommend that if you decide to go here, you block out lots of time, as that is what will be needed to ensure that your taxes are completed. Also, don't expect your taxes to be filed in 1-2 business days, as they clearly cannot do this simple task either. Their main priority is number of customers that come in and sign on the dotted line. Once you sign on the dotted line, be prepared to follow up on your own taxes, as you are already obligated to pay them and are no longer a concern of theirs.
