Having previously visited car supermarkets and dealers in an attempt to find a good nearly new car that met my needs, I was slightly apprehensive when Direct Cars was suggested to me by a friend.
I wasn't keen on the attitude, sales tactics and pricing of various other similar companies I'd visited and therefore half expected to be wasting a journey to become irate and fed up.
My fears were totally unfounded though and I ended up visiting 2 or 3 times before finally buying my current vehicle from them.
Upon arriving at Direct Cars, there are signs directing you towards a customer car park, which is in a fairly central location surrounded by the vehicles they have on sale.
Once you've parked up, you are free to roam and look at the vehicles they have on offer without being harassed by salesmen.
All the cars are locked, with messages on the windscreen inviting you to fetch the keys from the customer service desk if you would like to see inside.
Unlike other similar companies, there isn't an army of salesman watching for interested parties to pounce upon, you actually have to approach the staff at customer services for the first contact you'll receive with the staff!
Even when going to request the keys, they are simply handed over to you and you are left to go and look inside the car/listen to the engine etc.
After a couple of visits, I saw the car I wanted and purchased it from Direct Cars, expecting to be fending off offers of finance. Again, this wasn't the case, I was simply asked how I wanted to pay and informed they did have finance options available, but that was it, no pressure or hassle.
All in all, a painless and enjoyable experience.
Even after a few weeks when my car developed a small fault, they booked me straight in to their on site garage, fixed the fault for free and even gave me a courtesy car for the few hours I was without my vehicle.
If you are after a nearly new car, I would definitely recommend a visit. read more
