* * * Four friends and I went on "The Symbols of Sherry" tour in late February 2026. The tour cost 36,00€ per person, which we found pricy but comparable to or less than other bodegas in Jerez. Included in the tour was one hour of viewing the wine cathedrals, learning about making sherry, tasting six sherries and one vermouth, and a few small snacks. We enjoyed the learning and the tour. It was great to see inside the storage areas and learn about the various types of sherry. The tour ends in the shop, where you can buy more sherry to enjoy while traveling or take home. We were all glad we joined this experience, and would recommend it. It's probably 4.5 stars but I'm giving five since we had a nice time.

We took a train to Jeres from Seville to visit this cherry winery per recommendation from a Sevilla…read morelocal. It was interesting going there alone without a tour guide. We arrived to the winery and bought tickets and then wandered off on our own because nobody told us it would be a guided tour. They basically had to find us in order to start a tour It's interesting that they lock the front entrance during the tour, so we were lucky we arrived when we did (no signs posted outside either). Our winery tour guide was this young Italian girl who was super knowledgeable about wine making, fermentation process, climate, soil conditions, and history. We learned not only about history of cherry wine, but also about the region and local customs. At the end of the tour we had cherry wine tasting with 5 different varieties. The pours were too generous, which is not a bad problem to have.

Out of the three sherry bodegas we visited (Fundador, Lustau, and this one), Diez Merito was one of…read moreour favorites -- perhaps the best overall because it had good tour, good variety in the tasting, good quality, and good prices. The tours at all three bodegas were good and were all similar, and this was no exception (very informative, with attractive bodegas and a little interesting bonus that we saw a wedding and reception that had been set up to commence right after the tour!) Of the three, Diez Merito had some of the highest-quality offerings yet was also the least expensive for both tour prices and sherry prices. At the end of the tour, we got to try several varieties, which was nice (fewer than Lustau, but far more than Fundador): fino, amontillado, oloroso, cream, pedro ximenez PRO-TIP: If you don't care about having a sealed bottle with the label on it, you can get much lower price by having it poured straight from the cask in their sales room! For example, their cream sherry -- our favorite of the ones we tried, and I'm not normally a fan of cream sherry, but I liked this one -- was 10 euro per bottle... but only 3.75 per liter from tap! (you don't have to bring your own bottle... you can buy a 1 liter or 5 liter bottle right there for less than a euro)
