During our journey, we saw many dolphins (jumping, chasing the boat, riding along with the boat's bow), a seal, many birds, and numerous historical sites in the area. The crew was made up of the captain and 2 resident zoologists. They walked around the boat during the tour answering questions, providing insight, and telling stories about the area. They (Mary Kate and Deb) made the trip great. Highly recommend!

It appeared to be another company that is family business that is handed down through the years to the next generation. The boat was comfortable and everyone was required to wear a life vest. Safety was acknowledged and routinely insisted on. We met our tour guide at Lord Brandon's Cottage. He was a very friendly gentleman with a great sense of humor. He had the entire boat laughing our way around the lakes. It was a beautiful day on the lake and we learned so much about the history along the way to our drop off point. We were a little late because google maps told us the way from Cork to Ballinskelligs was supposed to be shorter, but we called and it was no problem at all. Super friendly people, the skipper was friendly, the people on the boat were friendly, the weather was perfect, it was all perfect. The boat takes you in about 1 hour and 15 minutes to the Skelligs. You can stay there for around 2 hours so the entire trip takes around 4,5 hours.

We visited at the end of the season, so it was quite a chilly 1.5 hour boat ride, but the views were spectacular. The hike took us ~3 hours to complete but was on a paved path. Again, amazing views. They will also arrange a jaunting car for an additional fee should you wish to take that rather than walk. We were driven to Ross castle, where we took the boat ride to the trail head, then were picked up from Kate Kearney's cottage and driven back to Killarney. A very full, but very fun day!

We never got off the bus, just sat quietly for the 20-or-so minute ride and then we were there! I did see that there are restrooms and even a snack counter if you did want to get out of your car and explore. But the ride is quick, so I think most people just turned up their music or took a little nap and let the ferry do it's thing.
