Excellent instructors who are knowledgeable and patient. My son had little experience and they made him feel comfortable and confident.

Great camp! Both our children (6 and 10) went for a week, learned a lot and had fun. Small group, great teachers, inspiring environment.

What a gem of a ballet school!…read more The three reasons we have loved this school for our daughter: (1) The faculty has some serious ballet expertise and passion (numerous alumni have become professional ballet dancers) but they're also incredibly good with teaching kids. Our daughter is always excited to go and see her teachers & classmates. (2) All students from 3yos in Creative Movement to the pre-professional dancers in the studio company are cast in their annual Nutcracker performances. Not only is it a cool experience for her perform on stage in real performing arts venues like the Harris Theater, but it's taught her a lot that goes beyond dance. Performing on stage in front of over a thousand people without stage fright, showing up for her classmates for multiple shows each season are good life skills. (3) While ballet isn't the most historically diverse place, Ballet Chicago's school directors make a conscious effort to be inclusive (different backgrounds, body types, etc.) You can tell they're committed to making ballet a positive experience for their dancers and it extends across the school. There's a real community feel. Oh! and I should mention that the studio and classes are also well-equipped: live piano accompaniment during classes, Marley sprung floors, nice natural light.

This is a ballet school that will prepare young dancers with technical skill and performance…read moreexperience and foster a love of dance. Both my son and daughter enjoyed performing in the annual nutcracker performance and it was great as a parent to watch the esprit de corp develop among the young dancers of all ages.

It almost seemed like a dream. From the very start, cruising through a large patch of lotus plants,…read moreit felt otherworldly. Very peaceful, going at our own pace. Enjoyed the cliff walls of Buffalo Rock and the shallow waters of some side passages. We paddled for 5 hours, covering 8 miles total. After we were done we headed to charming, historic downtown Utica for drinks and dinner at Skoog's Pub & Grill in North Utica, IL. I was impressed with the logistics and operation of the kayaking experience, from the guide* to the equipment and online booking process. *Full disclosure, the guide was my twin sister, but I am being objective...seriously.

I have mixed feelings about this kayak tour company. I signed up because although I'm a very…read morecapable and seasoned kayaker, I didn't know this river and I like learning about the ecosystems and local wildlife. For this reason I like having tour guides. Going up the river was fine. Coming back went a bit sour. I went as slow as I was capable of paddling or not paddling, but apparently it was too fast for the preference of our tour guide. I was barely touching the water with my paddle. I have no idea how I could have gone any slower. It wasn't humanly possible. After shouting at me several times, he took to chasing me down and ramming my kayak so it'd spin in circles. Would I rent a kayak here and kayak the river alone? Yes. Would I personally use a tour guide here? No I wouldn't. Would I recommend? If you're a family with little kids or a drunk sorority house, absolutely. If you know what you're doing, just go it alone. You'll probably enjoy it more. Edit: If the tour guide had concerns for group safety, he could have said so. Although ramming my kayak with his seems to be a bit of a conflict as far as my safety goes. It was an unprofessional approach when he could have simply explained why he needed me to slow down

I couldn't be happier with the decision to move my children to Kiddie Academy. I'm pretty sure my…read moreeight-month-old son could be happy anywhere, but he clearly is very happy at Kiddie Academy. His teachers in the Butterfly room are incredible. They clearly understand infant development and approach his learning accordingly and with love. When she moved up to an older room at our old daycare, I lost my silly, happy three-year-old daughter. Since moving to Kiddie Academy, I have seen a TREMENDOUS change in my daughter. She is happy to go to school every day. We talk about it all the way home and all the way to school. She is happy to wake up in the morning and happy to play at home (sometimes pretending to be at school again). She no longer has outbursts at home (or at least not often...) and she has stopped "grunting" at us when we try to engage her. She even gets mad when I pick her up too early from school because she doesn't have enough time to play with her friends. Her teacher at Kiddie Academy is so loving and has taught her so much. She had no interest in any activities at her old school, but now she wants to show and tell me all of the things she has learned. In the span of just a few weeks, she went from not being able to even hold a pen properly to being able to write her name. I'm a high school teacher in the public schools. My main goals for a daycare are for my kids to be happy and safe. Kiddie Academy provides me with the peace of mind for these goals and so much more. I couldn't recommend Kiddie Academy any higher.
