We found Julian through social media and as a young couple (myself in nursing school and my husband new to his Air Force career) needed quality wedding photos without costing a complete fortune. We met him last year for our engagement shoot. No red flags at all. Julian and his wife at the time, Lacey were great and our engagement pics turned out beautiful. Leading up to the wedding, there were some red flags that alarmed us and we quickly reached out to Julian. As he publicly shared on his Instagram that they were going through a divorce , things turned messy real quick. Julian called me at 3 am, breaking the client vendor relationship. As if I was going to help him with his family issues. Then my husband and I noticed that he was going live on his Instagram account. He was publicly sharing his divorce, and what looked like drug abuse. We understand that people go through troubles, and we quickly asked him if this would affect our wedding. He reassured us that everything would be fine and that he would be at our wedding. After us after several meetings prior to the wedding, we were reassured that everything was fine and that he had everything under control. He was even posting that he was working on other weddings, and what looks like no problems at all from the outside. The wedding day came, and he showed up an hour late may I add. The most important day of my life, and after giving him a list of photos that I wanted, it was not met. The location that I got ready at and the venue were about 15 minutes apart and Julian left way before I did and wasn't there to get photos of me getting my dress on with my mom. For that matter, I don't have any pictures with my mom at all from that day. On the day of, I was telling him what pictures to take. He had no sense of control over the wedding. We also took sunset pictures which ultimately ended up being in the dark because he had us an hour behind schedule. He kept sneaking away for "water" breaks in the parking lot when pictures needed to be taken. We had plenty of water and drinks for him to have yet he kept escaping to the parking lot. Time goes by after the wedding, and I still have never received sneak peaks and to this day, I haven't received sneak peaks. I start confronting him asking for dates of when I will receive my stuff, and all of a sudden his laptop was mysteriously hacked into. He has gone live on Instagram at random times in the middle of the night, showing his altered mental state. Finally my husband and I had a chance to talk to him on the phone and he said that he was getting his laptop fixed. My husband asked if we could receive the raw photos because it was in the contract and we didn't want to risk anything happening to his laptop again. He agreed but I had to purchase a $80 hard drive and drive four hours total to another city to meet him to get my pictures downloadied. My dad and I planned to meet him at a local Starbucks and he showed up over an hour late. After sitting in a Starbucks for six hours, I patiently waited for my photos to download onto the hard drive. He told us that by October 3 we would have sneak peaks and by October 13th we would have the final result of photo and video. That date came and it was pushed back even further. Then we were told by October 17 at 6 AM we would have sneak peaks and by October 26 we would have the final result of everything. Those days arrived, and still nothing in our possession. We have called him , texted him , social media messages, countless of times and no responses at all. We were scammed. I called my bank to file a claim and no luck. Julian is posting on social media that he has money and is collecting more deposits from new clients when he hasn't even helped his past clients. The heartbreak that my husband and I have gone through from what would've been the best day of our lives is now ruined, because those memories will never return. Like I said, we are a young couple and my husband lives in another state serving our country while I complete nursing school. To dress up again in our wedding outfits and pay someone else to take our photos is just not ideal (and definitely not the same). We have special pictures with our grandparents and parents and other family members that can never be done again. Julian is stealing money from innocent families and getting away with it. Despite going through personal struggles, we expect honesty and communication. We just want our edited photos and video. This is what we paid for. Julian does beautiful work and for our engagement shoot he was great to work with, but I do not recommend him to anyone because I do not want anyone to go through what we have gone through. It was only after three phone calls and getting Amazon Local Deals involved that the vendor responded. I've had too many bad experiences over the years with photographers who simply are non-responsive (yes, I know many of you are small businesses with limited or no staff...but you need to have a mechanism in place to let customers know that you have received their inquiry or message--common courtesy). Anyway, I'm sure she does great work, as evidenced on her webpage, but I just didn't appreciate having to go to such great lengths to get a simple acknowledgement of the receipt of my request.

Funny enough, I had been following Elli for a while for her food, restaurant, and lifestyle photography before I even discovered her wedding work. Her eye for storytelling, small details, and candid joy immediately stood out, and once I saw her wedding portfolio, I knew she would bring that same magic to our celebration. Since we eloped in Hawaii, we hired Elli (along with an assistant photographer she selected) for 4 hours to photograph our reception. This included a 30-minute portrait session before our grand entrance, and coverage until about an hour before dancing ended. From the very beginning, Elli was incredibly organized, communicative, and thoughtful. She walked us through exactly what information she needed ahead of time--family groupings, key moments, priorities--which made us feel more prepared going into the day. We also met in person about a week before the wedding to scout the location. Even though Elli had photographed at the Presidio before, she still took the time to walk the space with us and make sure the lighting, scenery, and flow matched our vision.
