First time trying Dig Doug's BBQ, and it did not disappoint! My wife and I ordered the sampler platter along with their homemade root beer, and everything was absolutely packed with flavor. You can tell everything is made fresh with high-quality ingredients--every bite was top-notch! The homemade root beer was the perfect pairing--super refreshing and full of rich, smooth flavor. On top of the amazing food, the staff at the counter were super friendly, upbeat, and made the whole experience even better. The vibe of the place is really cool too--laid-back and welcoming. We hadn't even decided what we had a taste for, but passing Dig Doug's, we decided barbecue was worth a shot. It's comfy and clean inside, with a friendly vibe. We were greeted at the door and expected to order at the counter but were told to have a seat anywhere we'd like. We looked over the menu and the gentleman came over to see if we had any questions. This place makes their own root beer so we started with that. He then described a sandwich he wanted to make with the corned beef that was just off the smoker and it sounded so good that we went with that. Sides were Mac and cheese for hubby and homemade potato chips for me. Everything was scratch made including the ranch dip and all the sauces, most notably the root beer bbq sauce. The pride and care that goes into everything was so evident and did I mention, delicious??? We enjoyed small talk with Doug and his wife, and left full and happy and feeling like long lost family. When the weather warms up we will be back for some miniature golf on the property, behind the restaurant. What a find! read more

A former Dog n Sud's? A&W? Great repurpose into an amazing bbq destination. I should have taken a picture of the building. Super friendly owner and staff, everything very clean, mini golf out back . We were in town for a wedding and stopped in for a "snack". WE COULD NOT STOP EATING. The ribs were ginormous and almost but not quite falling off the bone with gorgeous bark. (All sauce is served in the side.). Pulled pork sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. I'm super picky about globs of fat and I didn't have to sort through the meat before eating. The fries are hand-cut with skin on, served sizzling and salty in a brown paper bag. Stop and get some beer and get ready to settle into a table in the shade for a feast. Dig Doug's would be a fun motorcycle destination ride- a couple hours from the NW suburbs of Chicago riding through the country and near the Illinois and Rock Rivers. read more

Traveling thru and thought I'd check them out. Couldn't decide exactly what I wanted so ordered the Three Little Pigs. Let me tell you it was not little, but it was delicious! The pulled pork was smoky and tender, the sausage had great spice, and the tenderloin was huge. Plus got more fries than I could eat and great homemade root beer. All for under $20 including tax. Just did not care for any of their food at all ,very very slow ,I just wouldn't recommend it ,the barbecue sauce has a funny taste, I just don't like it and I love barbecue but not from this place and the prices oh heavens they are outrageous steer clear of this one!!! read more

Very very good pulled pork and burgers. As well as brisket, if your not a fan of smoked food than I wouldn't recommend it. However they do have a wide carrier for a menu. The huge smoker letting off lots of aromatic smoke will draw you in. Get the smoked ribs if they have them. Excellent! Tender and flavorful. We loved both the Carolina and Traditional sauces. For sides we tried the beans, mac and cheese, cole slaw, and cornbread. All are delicious, especially the beans, thick and rich. And if you like root beer, theirs is homemade, very tasty, and not too sweet. The restaurant is located in what used to be an old drive-in diner with plenty of outdoor seating. The owner came out to talk to us while we were chowing down. Very friendly and service is excellent. Definitely stop by if you're in the area. read more

Hands down the BEST BBQ we have had in awhile. The smoked chicken plate was SO moist!! The Carolina Sauce is perfection. My husband had the hoot link and ribs. Exceptional. The link wasn't too hot but had a nice kick to it. Ribs were a tender dry rub yet moist and meaty!! Coal slaw was fresh and delicious and those hand made fries? WOWZERS!!! Our complements to Doug!! Oh and Doug and his staff (or wife?) super nice and relaxed environment which isn't easy to do with all the COVID going on. You HAVE to give them a try!!!! read more

I ate lunch here twice I a week. First day I ordered the brisket sandwich. I found it to be more like pot roast. It was tasty but did not strike me as brisket. Did not detect a smoke flavor or bark common to brisket. Had the pulled pork the following day. Again I couldn't taste any smoke or bark. The root beer sauce made it much better. When I use my smoker there is a smoke ring and a bark on the meat. I'm not sure what methods are in use here. read more

Was curious about this place for a while, and I'm happy I finally went! This place is great! Went with my wife, daughter (11 month old) and my parents. The wait staff was awesome! They took care of are every need and even helped entertain my daughter. Loved the stuffed pig! The food was equally memorable. I got the combo platter, so I could try everything and I wasn't disappointed. The brisket had great smoke flavor and bark, the hot links were juicy with out losing the snap of their casing, the shredded chicken was the perfect vessel for the all four of their homemade sauces, and finally the ribs were so tender but with a great exterior bark from the spice rub...no need for sauce on quite possible the best ribs I've ever had. The only regret is not saving room for the peanut butter pie for desert. I guess it just means I'll have to come back, many more times. read more

In April we were passing through Streator and got Dig Doug's pulled pork and brisket to go. The pulled pork was good meat, lightly smoked. Brisket is on tap for tonight. OMG this is good BBQ! And, we didn't have to wait for a table. Pulled pork is my favorite meal just about anywhere, and this one was delish. My husband's brisket was juicy, yet lean, and full of flavor. Typical sides, well seasoned, yummy - slaw, beans, and hand-cut fries. Our server was helpful and nice. The decor is cute, simple. This place is amazing. Hard to find tradition bbq of this caliber at a restaurant. The amount of effort it takes to smoke and prepare the meats that are offered is insane. Brisket and pulled pork take 14-16 hours of smoking to prepare and be ready to serve to customers. Talk about dedication. Bbq sauce to die for. Real home made bbq sauce. What a great place. We picked a beautiful Saturday and rode the 1 1/2 hours out to Ottawa for lunch. When we pulled up, the smell told us we were at a real BBQ restaurant! The service was great, very attentive and the waiter made sure we had what we needed. I had the pulled pork and hot links, my two staples. The hot links were ok, probably not something I would order again. They didn't have a lot of flavor. The pulled pork on the other hand was fantastic. I am not a fan of most BBQ sauces, as they are usually too sweet and was glad they came out with very little sauce on them. I tried all of their sauces and they were all more than acceptable. They had a couple of unique ones, a Georgia mustard, that was good and a mayo based one, that was excellent with the onion rings. I am a lover of North Carolina style vinegar Sauce, so I tend to not be the best judge of most sauces. I suspect these were very good. The onion rings were a little soggy and brown, kind of like the fryer oil needed changing, but they still tasted pretty good, particularly with the mayo sauce. We will definitely go back! read more

OMG I've had BBQ all around the United States. East West North & South this is really good. Had the Brisket, Ribs and coleslaw. Please don't change a thing where the meat's concerned. This is the first time trying a BBQ restaurant. The coleslaw was good they used more red cabbage ( normally there is more white cabbage.) The fries had a bit to much salt but it is still good. The cornbread was a little dry but tasted great with the butter they give you, and the brisket had the right amount of meat to fat ratio. read more

The name says it all! I dig Doug's BBQ from the professionals in the kitchens to the wait staff! Great place, Great Food, and Great BBQ just the way it should be! I had The three little pigs sandwich with fries, Nachos with pulled pork, and brisket! All cooked in low temps with slow cook times to create that perfect mouth watering taste. Their Alabama BBQ sauce is great on the fries and just about everything! I also saw a small bowling alley in the back area which, I think is a great multifunctional space to host a small corporate event or a birthday party. The service was outstanding and it was just like eating at home with my own family. It was very comfortable and welcoming environment for newbies to the area! For the price and size of nachos you get Dig Doug's can't be beat. Big fan of the pulled pork and chicken nachos. They give you a lot of meat and a lot of cheese etc. They seem to maintain the goofy golf course in the back really well which is a big plus for our town. The owner is a good guy to talk to and is a big supporter of Streator. read more
