We had a travel trailer with us as well as our dog. Not one shop would touch our truck. Every shop said since our F350 was deleted( had the EGR removed) they could not and would not even talk to us. So basically we were out of Luck. I took a chance on calling Ben's thinking maybe they could at least come and do a diagnostic on the truck so we had some kind of an idea. this fucker wanted to charge us 450.00 just to hook up a computer to our truck. We were really stuck so said what the hell. They sent a very inexperienced mechanic out to us who looked like he was living out of the truck he works from. That should have been a huge red flag for us. He never even looked at the truck just hoked up his laptop and at one point could not even figure out how to read the codes. When all was said and done the guy said he would only charge us 260.00 for the call out and hi labor which he did nothing. He did start up the truck and that was it. This business is owned by a pure opportunist that takes advantage of people that are broke down and in need of real help. We finally had the truck towed to a great shop in Fruitland Idaho to a very well run friendly and very experienced shop. I told hi our story and he said that this Ben has been run out of many different towns for scamming people. The entire town of Ontario as far as mechanics go is not a place you want to get stuck, they are rude, they run down your trucks. Even the Ford Dealership would not even talk to us about a truck that their company once made. So long story short, the truck is still in Idaho, not sure what is going on with it yet as the shop is pretty backed up. Stay away from Ben's truck repair and any shop in Ontario Oregon. We were very blessed that we had some great friends in Emmet Idaho that cam to our rescue and towed our travel trailer to their home and gave a us a very nice place to stay and fed us and for that we are both very thankful. Thank you Gary and Daria for being there when we needed friends the most.

They also have the usual convenience store variety of expensive but necessary supplies you can't find anywhere else in Ontario 24 hours a day (e.g., drugs, bath products, auto supplies and additives, especially for diesel vehicles). If you are a professional trucker, you'll find most of the supplies here you need to get back on the road, and there's a tire and limited service shop for the rest. Since it's Oregon, there are two things to know: First, this isn't one of the counties where they require store employees to pump your gas for you (i.e., it's normal like most of America). Second, people should ignore yelling about "misleading prices." Oregon has a unique tax system for diesel fuel that's not in any other state, so you need a special Oregon permit to get the $0.40 lower fee for diesel fuel. People who say otherwise don't know what they are talking about.

I choose Hoopmans as they had good reviews and I needed a local mobile mechanic. My no-start issue…read morewas diagnosed and resolved but the the oil light was on (never been on before) and the manual 4x4 under the dash was left disconnected. I checked the oil, and the oil gauge would show, then disappear. It appeared to be a faulty gauge. I checked wiring, re-connected 4x4 and then drove the truck. Light came back on while driving and seized in seconds. Hoopmans said they would come back out and check, never showed up, didn't return calls, and went dark on text messages. 2nd Chance failure. I gave Daniel Hoopman a chance to resolve the issue and was again disappointed. Daniel came by for about 15 min to "take a look" and said he would be back on Friday as he needed more time then he no showed, no called. Daniel was given the opportunity to refund a portion of the labor but also went dark. Im moving on, and suggest others look elsewhere for a mobile mechanic.

It was EXTREMELY stressful, but the second I met Brian and his wife, I knew we were in good hands. She kindly took us to fetch some food at a nearby food stop while Brian went to work finding the part we needed to continue our trip. We had been swindled at a mechanic back in Denver, CO a few day ago - the part that broke on our car was the same one that was replaced back in Denver. Brian called them and tried to get them to stand behind their mistake, but they didn't. I am beyond grateful for the work they do, and for what they did for us. They checked on us to make sure we made it to Portland. If I'm ever in the area again, we're stopping by to say hello. The car hasn't given us any issues related to the work they did since. I thought for sure I had a bad wheel bearing, and I told them as much. He called back and said that "my bearings are fine, and all I was missing is a tie rod" and he fixed it for a fair price, and had it done that same day, so I wasn't out of a car anymore than one day. Especially when he could have also charged me for a wheel bearing replacement, and I would have been none the wiser. Best Auto shop in Ontario, hands down. Thanks Cones! I'm sure I'll be back!... Just hopefully I don't have to come back anytime soon.
