It was very good but a little more dense than expected in a sticky way which I wasn't expecting for a scone. They were fresh out of the oven and cooling though so they may have still been finishing. The butter is a cut square not fresh whipped but the cream is freshly whipped. The preserves seemed to be homemade and I ate it all, very good! I got a cinnamon bun to go with the cream but I am a sweet tooth so I was missing the sugary icing. I got my scone fix and now I'm good. Set on…read morethe 3rd floor in the Alte Oper in central Frankfurt, the dining room has a grandiose ceiling with beautiful detailing, paint and decorations throughout. The wait staff are friendly and accommodating to those who don't speak German so well (like myself). They also had a beautiful Christmas tree up and the halls were decked out for the holidays. We were very well taken-care-of and the food was excellent. I started off with a risotto served with grilled calamari on top. It was delicious - cooked slightly al dente to show off the textures and flavors of the wild-rice varieties that were used in the dish. The squid was perfectly tender and tasty on top, they have a full size and a starter size of the risotto. For my main, I had the filet mignon, a 200g cut of Omaha steak, imported from the US. It was perfectly medium rare per my order and came served with vegetables, a garlic butter, pomme frites on the side and a choice of either peppercorn or béarnaise sauce. For desert, I tried the chocolate lava cake. It was on the small side (for the price), but with all that had come before it, it was a perfect way to finish off our evening. We also had two bottles of wine which, as always with restraints, were quite pricey, but went down very well. I would recommend this for special occasions, celebrations or family gatherings, etc. It's definitely a classy place with most men using at least a blazer and most ladies in dresses.

They offered donuts for 1€ each today on Black Friday, which is less than the price for each in boxed sets. Donuts were all delicious, I've tried chocolate, strawberry, almond and Lebkuchen. Due to Black Friday, it was pretty crowded so the Food Court was pretty loud, too.
