For one, families are an important part of this neighborhood. You can't walk down the street without noticing numerous young pairs with children in tow. This gives the quarter a home-sweet-home feel that is missing in many other neighborhoods in Köln. But, Nippes isn't some sleepy suburb either. There is a wealth of quality dining, great shopping and many cultural events that beckon people here.
In Nippes you get the best of both worlds. From Florastrasse, you are only a 10-minute U-Bahn ride from the center of the city. At the same time, the neighborhood offers a maze of quiet streets ideal for families.
In addition, the Veedel has a distinctive culture and feel of it's own. You notice right away that among the residents there is as much identification and loyalty to Nippes as there is with Köln at large.
Nippes is a wonderful neighborhood whether you're just visiting for the day, you work here, or you have made your home here.
