Pumpkin
Constance M.

This place will satisfy all your autumn needs, expect pumpkin spice faps lol! Make sure to bring cash, because this place only takes cash. They have pumpkins--a lot, in different varieties. The prices are affordable--0.69 per pound. This year the pumpkins were really big, but they still have mini ones in the shop if you want them. There is a lot of activities for family and children, especially rides and animals. One thing to note is that it's hard to find parking sometimes due to how many families came but otherwise I had no problems. I didn't purchase any food but there is a limited variety for food here. Would recommend for families with small children. This place is only active for the fall season, so hurry and go before you miss it.

One star for the horrible guy who was working today 9/27/22 at the petting zoo gate around noon. Took the kids to visit the farm to pick out some pumpkins. This is our first time here. There wasn't a lot of people because it was a weekday. The kids were having fun, running around and looking at the Halloween decorations. They wandered at the gate to the petting zoo and I walked in with them not realizing we need tickets. I didn't see anyone at the gate so I thought it was an open, free area. After walking for 5 steps this guy comes out of nowhere and asks to see if I had a hand stamp. I said no and immediately said sorry. And that I was just following my kids and didn't realize this was a ticketed area. He was so rude! He Started to raise his voice telling me why I walked in thru the exit when I don't have tickets even after I already said I was sorry twice!!! and told him I was just trying to get my kids. We were literally just standing a couple steps inside the gate. We saw no animals nor did we walk around or took any photos. He kept yelling at me like I was trespassing private property. My kids got scared and even said sorry and they were asking me why is this man so mean mommy. It broke my heart. They are only 2 and a half years old! I can't believe this is how the staff treats customers at this farm... I'm still a bit shocked this happened at a family and kid friendly farm... :( There are a million ways to tell someone the area requires tickets to enter. Much nicer ways too... Yelling and making kids feel bad is definitely not one of them. Especially when customers already said sorry twice and didn't even go inside the petting zoo yet! Besides picking out pumpkins to buy, everything you see at the farm costs money. This is our first time coming here and definitely our last. We bought pumpkins and produce before we left. But we will be taking our business elsewhere next year. I'm so disappointed in the way we were treated here.

I had a good overall experience but the activities were not as fun as when I was a kid because the animal farm wasn't gated back then and the corn maze was bigger. Didier farms wasn't super busy during my visit but that may have been because of the hot weather. Fortunately that helped with short lines and the service was amazing! I got a corn dog and it was delicious though. I would recommend coming here with your family for fall fun.

This place is Apples. (I'd say Bananas but I'd be off theme). Just getting into the parking lot sucks. There's no one directing traffic. Making a left turn is almost impossible unless someone in the oncoming traffic takes pity on you. There's no traffic control in the parking lot either. And pedestrians have to use the same narrow lanes. You're almost guaranteed to drive over someone too. So stay sharp. All the food and activities are ridiculously expensive. $10 for an apple cider with whipped cream? Even with the expense, the lines for everything are also ridiculous. The employees are exhausted. One employee asked my wife 3 times if she wanted coffee or apple cider and kept immediately forgetting the response. Apologizing though. And letting us know how long they've been working this shift. The food isn't great either. Nothing seems fresh. We took a taffy apple home and it's mushy. Oh god. And the porta potties? Please don't go in there. You're not going to like going in there. But yet even with all this complaining we still had a good time. The petting zoo farm animals seemed happy. The corn maze is a legitimately tough maze through an entire corn field. My 8 year old had a blast. And buying pumpkins at the end of the day didn't feel like a ripoff. So if you need some fall activities this place has them. Just bring a lot of patience. And your wallet.

Love Didier farms! Our second year going for the pumpkin patch and animal farm. The pig race and those pig puns are the best!

Open, safe distancing areas.

COVID-19 Review- This is definitely the best of the local pumpkin patches (the carnival area is a patch, not a farm). You pick the pumpkins from a patch and not the vine; it is by far the best patch near Chicago. We arrived close to opening time on a Sunday, and there was enough space to distance socially outside. EVERYONE we saw was wearing a mask (thank you, fellow humans). Pros- *No entrance fee; pay as you go for the activities. *Offers various fall, farm items for purchase like pumpkins, taffy apples, apple cider (which was delicious!). *Parking Cons- I mean, the camels? Not really a mid-western animal (but that's my opinion). I will definitely go to Didier over the other two patches in the Northwest suburbs.

I liked the business model of this place where you can park and enter for free and then just pay as you go for certain things. Plus it's an easy in and out of you're looking to just do a few things or have little ones with potentially short attentions to focus. We went over Columbus Day weekend and they were busy, but it wasn't too packed. They have space for a pretty ample amount of parking and the walk to the entrance is pretty short. Once inside you can purchase tickets that translate into different rides or activities. Generally it seems like most things were $3 (rides, games) and $5 for rides on ponies or camels. They have a pretty decent spread of rides so it doesn't feel too crowded when you're in there. The ride audience would probably be for 3 - 8 year olds. What I liked about the a la carte method was that you didn't have to overpay for a bunch of stuff you wouldn't use. I think we netted out a little cheaper than if we went to a full price place where a bunch of things are included. Plus since a majority of things are rides it's expected that they be add-ons anyways. You can also put any unused tickets towards food items in their country store so there should be no reason to really waste your tickets. They had the usual type of selection of fall goodies and I found the food prices and quality to be pretty good. They also have a more dedicated area for hot foods as well that seemed to ha e higher quality offerings. The place isn't as huge and sprawling as some of the farms if you drive further out of Chicago, but this hit the spot perfectly and is not a far drive from Chicago. I would recommend for sure if you are looking for the fall carnival pumpkin type experience without going to one of the giant farms. If your kid(s) have a meltdown and you have to leave early, then didn't have to pay an entrance fee so another plus for that type of business model.

Kiddie rides perfect for pre-school aged children

Fall has arrived, which means all the little munchkins are headed to Didier farms. With lots of little kid rides & games, an impressive pumpkin patch and sweets my almost 4 year old was in heaven. My almost 2 year old was a bit young for it all, but he's happy to be involved in any of his sisters activities. You can expect to go thru a lot of dough here. We blew thru $40 of tickets ($1 per ticket) in about an hour and it was mostly for one kid. The carnival type of food didn't look too appetizing (think corn dogs) so we stopped for lunch at once upon a grill on the way home, but we did share a few pumpkin and apple glazed donuts. I'm a fan of anything pumpkin (and think it should be on most menus year round), but in this case favored the apple glazed donuts. If you have little ones it's definitely a must to pay didier farms a visit once during the fall season, although if it was up to my daughter we would go every weekend.

A good time with a range of activities, but be prepared that you'll easily spend $50-$100 for two kids over the course of 90 minutes. Pretty expensive in my opinion. For example, the slide is $3 per person per side. So for my kids to go down twice was $12 for about 3 minutes of fun. I was planking to come back once or twice more this season but at $50-$100 a visit I doubt I will.

Ok to visit, but be ready to spend $25 every 15 minutes per child. Unreasonably overpriced.

Compared with other restaurants and retailers in the area, where we have consistently encountered exceptionally friendly and welcoming customer service, Woodman's seems to fall noticeably short. On each of our shopping visits, employees have generally failed to greet or acknowledge us, even when we approach them for assistance. When we do ask for help, their responses often come across as curt, dismissive, and as though helping a customer is an inconvenience. For a company that takes pride in being employee-owned, this is particularly disappointing. One would hope that employee ownership would foster a greater sense of pride, engagement, and commitment to the customer experience, along with a shared interest in the store's success. Woodman's has a great concept and offers shoppers a lot of potential value. However, the lack of warmth and welcoming customer service creates an uninviting atmosphere that detracts from the overall shopping experience. We wanted to share this feedback because we would genuinely like to see Woodman's live up to its reputation and become a store we enjoy visiting regularly. A simple greeting, a friendly attitude, and a willingness to assist customers would go a long way toward making shoppers feel welcome and appreciated.

The layout while antiquated looking is easy and "classic" retail. Don't change it if it ain't broke. Food selection is pretty good they have tons of import products as well the only place they are rather thin is on Kosher / Jewish tradition food. The store has otherwise competitive prices across all levels of grocery. Their fish prices are competitive with surrounding merchants. The only problem here is that the automated cash registers are down half of the time. Not a massive problem though because there are still plenty of manned registers and the staff are efficient and quick to do their jobs. I can't help but knock off a point for the irregular at best availability of the self serve registers. I'm all for jobs but at the same time I'd rather be able to clean the machine I'm using than interacting with a fleshbag carrying who knows what kind of cooties.
