Full plate of rice that came with the Meat Me special
    David G.

Lunch for four. We shared the large platter of Meat Me special and an order of salmon. We rated the food at 4 and 1/2 stars. The service was a bit slow, but our server was very friendly. The seating was pretty uncomfortable. We will come back here and try some different dishes, as several items looked very interesting.

Delicious and tender koobideh and chicken kabobs. Also tried an interesting stew with flavors and aroma I never had before. Change up from the Lebanese and kosher restaurants we usually go to. Clean restaurant with friendly staff.

Excellent food on this first visit. Perfectly cooked filet and lamb kebabs. Specialty rice and salads worth saving room for, as well as the eggplant dip and the pistachio ice cream to finish. Server was so friendly and helpful.

Drive out here to support a woman owned business but disappointing experience. Not sure why it took 25 minutes to get my chicken when I was the only one there for half the time. Chicken was overcooked. Flavors were underwhelming. Service was lackluster.

I've been eating Persian food my whole life, so my standards for kabob and chicken kabob are pretty high. It's honestly hard to find places that hit close to home, but this spot really does. The kabob was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right, and the chicken kabob was flavorful, tender, and clearly marinated the way it's supposed to be. The rice was fluffy and aromatic, and everything on the plate tasted authentic and thoughtfully prepared. On top of the food, the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The ambiance is warm, comfortable, and genuinely enjoyable--one of those places you can sit, relax, and really enjoy your meal. It's rare to find a Persian restaurant that nails both the food and the overall experience, but this one absolutely does. I'll definitely be coming back.

After seeing all the great reviews, I really thought I found a gem in Sherman Oaks... but the experience was a huge disappointment. The food was mediocre at best, and the service was lackluster. We had to keep asking for the same things, and the restaurant wasn't even crowded. What stood out most was an older bald woman who was walking around chatting warmly with other tables but completely disregarded and ignored us. At first, I just thought it was extremely odd but when I found out she was actually the owner, it was very disheartening especially as patrons. Being in such a small space and not even being acknowledged once gave off clear racist undertones. It felt intentional and left a really bad impression. We came from far, expecting something great, and the whole experience ended up being a waste. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

Easily now became the valleys best Persian restaurant. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by positive energy and great vibes. The staff was extremely kind and very, very attentive and extremely friendly. The food was the star of the show. Easily THE BEST barg soltani Plate ever it was so tender and marinated so well. Every dish we had today was made with love you can taste it in every bite. The meet me special was such a great value. We loved the tadig stew dish, both of the stews were so amazing and so flavorful. Everything was extremely fresh, cooked and prepared perfectly. Definitely recommend this place!

I am so glad I came here. The food was incredible and I only wish I could've tried more food at once because the whole menu sounds delicious. We had the salmon, combo koobideh, roasted eggplant dip, shirazi salad, saffron tea, and the didar doogh. I loved the smokiness from open-flame grilled salmon, the sweetness of the crisped caramelized onions in the eggplant dip, the tenderness of the kebabs, the tang of the didar dough, the freshness and acidity of the shirazi salad, and the warm, earthy, floral notes of the saffron tea. This is a quiet, clean space that still feels warm and cozy with the pictures hanging on the wall and the friendly service. I can't wait to come back!

We got seated rather quickly we went during the week for dinner. We had the Gheimeh Stew accompanied by rice, two beef Koobideh and one chicken Koobideh accompanied by rice, and Ghormeh Sabzi Stew. Everything tasted great and we would definitely order all the next time we come. There were two large parties and space for other smaller groups, they fit a lot of people although it is a small space, there was nice music playing and the staff was friendly. We can't wait to go back, thank you for a delicious meal.

From the moment we walked in, we knew we had found something special. The owner personally greeted us at the door and came to our table to guide us through the menu, which immediately made us feel welcomed and cared for. The service throughout our visit was warm, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. The food was truly outstanding. The kebabs here are unlike anything I've had before, authentic Persian flavors with a homemade touch that makes every bite feel comforting and real. You can instantly tell how incredibly fresh the ingredients are, especially the meat. The steak kebab was unbelievably tender! so soft it practically melted in my mouth. No exaggeration, you barely even need to chew. It was easily one of the most delicious kebabs I've ever had. Everything tasted freshly prepared, perfectly seasoned, and full of rich, authentic flavor. You can really sense the care and quality behind each dish. The restaurant itself is spotless, beautifully maintained, and has a calm, inviting ambiance that makes you want to sit and enjoy your meal. This was our first visit, and we were blown away. I honestly can't say enough about how delicious the food was and how wonderful the overall experience felt. Will I come back? Absolutely 100% YES. This place is a gem, and I can't wait to return.

Food is amazing, service is great. The ice cream is fantastic. We needed this in the valley.

Didar Restaurant What a hidden gem. Didar truly gives you the authentic Persian feeling of Iran -- warm, comforting, and filled with love. The food tastes like it's made at home, the way Persian food is meant to be, and the incredible music just completes the experience. We ordered the half-and-half tahdig, which was perfectly crunchy and packed with flavor. We also had the chicken kabob and an extra skewer of beef koobideh -- both were unbelievably juicy and melted in your mouth. The house-made doogh was refreshing and delicious. We ended our meal with Persian ice cream and tea, and honestly, the ice cream was one of the best I've ever had. The portions are generous and absolutely worth the price. On top of that, the customer service and hospitality are truly unmatched. Our waitress, Ladan, was amazing -- so sweet, polite, and attentive. She even came by to say goodbye to each table as she was leaving, which was such a thoughtful touch. Riaz was also incredibly kind and helpful. We will definitely be coming back and bringing the whole family. Highly recommend!

It is better than their beef koobideh and barg, though those are still good. I have had better beef koobideh at other restaurants like Raffis or Shekarchi. Their bread is so fresh and is an elevated experience compared to the usual lavash bread that restaurants give. My friends had the salmon and they really liked it. The maast o khiar is really good too. The service is excellent - all the food came out quickly and the servers were nice. I will say I am Persian (and look very obviously so) and for some reason one lady only looked at/spoke to my husband and not me. I would say it's 4.5 stars because I was put off by this. Parking is tough right next to the restaurant but can be found metered down the street if you don't want to valet. Been going to Sadaf for the past 15 years. Past few years they have increased prices and made their…read moreportions smaller. Just until recently we have been experiencing changes in flavor and food presentation, still no excuse to serve people that have been supporting their business with tasteless and cold food. Last week I had enough and called over the manager. He did mention due to the high cost, they had to cut back and raise prices. Giving us the typical excuses to weasel their way out. Order 1 was tri stews that came out cold with small portion of rice. The stews were tasteless and meatless. Menu states chunks of beef but yet nothing in our dish. Maybe they gave us the veggie option for $28. I scream middle eastern from a mile away do you think I would go there for a veggie dish? I don't think so. Discrepancies can elevate a dish but unfortunately I don't think the new management in the kitchen has any clue on culinary arts. If you lack that part in your business at least serve a warm dish with decent size rice which is cheap to buy or add some side greens that can fill a normal size man so I don't have to stop by In N Out after. Order 2 was chicken barg that was cold as our stews, tasteless and strange color to it which manager claimed it was a new marinate and also agreed it was small. Small portion and cold but yet they charged $28 for it. No mention if their cuts are organic or not is very troubling as the chicken felt it was frozen with a chewing texture and a strange aftertaste. The icing on cake was a $5 premium charge for a small bottle of sparkling water that's normally at most at local gas stations for a $1.90. The manager had the nerve to tell us they have been cutting back including the small slice of lemon that they used to offer with a glass of water. This place is a joke and ran by people that just care for money as they have been opening new locations with our support. They have forgotten when you claim superiority over other restaurants you better deliver as presentation is key which this restaurant lacks as well. Manager claimed they focus on healthy marinates and oils and provide healthy meals which as if he was selling me on a gym membership! Maybe he should save all that talk and had refunded my money. I paid, even gave a healthy tip as the server had nothing to do with it and I would have ordered desserts but everything on it was unhealthy and store bought contradictory to his long speech. Save your money and don't go here.

Chelo Taste of Persia aka Chelo, tastes great!…read more We had dinner here for my friend Mike's birthday and I have to say I'm an instant fan! I've had some small things here in the past via friends and delivery, and let me say they do a lot of takeout and delivery (I think I saw like a dozen orders go out in the course of ten minutes). Extensive catering menu + family style dish offerings. The dine in experience is cozy and thoughtful with two large flat screens on the wall for your viewing pleasure. Incredible sides, beverages and cuisine with delicious flavors as well as aromas. That lentil soup was the talk of the night, super unique, good texture and a hint of spice. I've never had falafel like the falafel I had at Chelo, it wasn't super crisp or overly fried it was it's own wonderful blend with a medium to soft texture that melted in your mouth. Already dreaming about more. Eggplant dip, yes please! But that hummus is an instant yes - very authentic. Portions here are beyond plentiful and I'm grateful. Lots of vegetarian dishes that are also vegan friendly, aside from yogurt based items. Their Shirazi Salad, Veggie Sautee and Torshi should be on your list, much like their refreshing Persian Iced Tea, Saffron Drink and Cucumber Lemonade. Amongst our dinner group of four we had a lot of variety. And the consensus is it's all great! If doing a Chelo Style (plate) 1/2 and 1/2 rice and salad is recommended, though for this salad it includes feta so I personally do all rice. Might try with Shirazi if possible or fetaless if also possible. Good beverage options, the majority of which are available to grab and go in their cold box near the front. Much like small containers of their sides and savory dips. Fresh made pita. Dessert options. Loads of gluten free and halal dishes as well. The people who make Chelo what it is are super kind and personable and take care of this space. Cool loyalty rewards program (earn a wrap). Located on Van Nuys Blvd/Victory Blvd it's a local hidden gem you absolutely want to find. Can't believe it took me so long to sit in and dine in, but absolutely will be strolling in a lot more. Close to the Van Nuys courthouse, Orange/G Line Station for Van Nuys Blvd with street meter parking or residential off side streets a little bit of a walk down. Restrooms for customers and very clean, like the entire place. Open Monday through Friday from 11am until 8pm and until 5pm on Saturdays, with the same 11am opening. Closed only on Sundays and/or special events or holidays. Get your Chelo on!
